Looking back I now see the value of creating these safe environments where people can experiment freely, make mistakes, and in which people can learn and grow. I remember as a child, we often start the ball rolling by inviting another child to play together. Propose a game, and anyone is free to join in. There is no discrimination and all have the power and option to further add to the fun. We offer ourselves and turn up the play dial. Everything is organic, and we go with the flow; adapting and co-creating our play experience with one another. I hope to continue to enjoy this openness and share this purity of play invitations with an extended Play Community. I love a mashup DJ, taking two songs and mixing them into something new but entirely familiar. And one of the fun things we're seeing in video games in 2024, especially on Steam, is successful genre mash-ups. Palworld blended monster collecting with survival genres to create one of the biggest hits of the year. Could Lightyear Frontier do the same? Blending mechs with farming sim seems a bit, uh, odd, but this trailer and their savvy publishing team putting it on GamePass and Steam, give this "cozy, co-op mech non-shooter" an interesting chance.
