Exciting news from the renewable energy sector: Photovolt Development Partners (PVDP) has officially entered the pre-examination phase for its 840 MW Botley West Solar PV project in Oxfordshire – one of the UK’s largest utility-scale solar developments. This milestone moves the project one step closer to providing clean, reliable power for the region and helping the UK achieve its net-zero goals. The Planning Inspectorate has accepted the project for examination, marking a key phase in securing a Development Consent Order (DCO). While the project has faced challenges, including adjustments to the design to reduce environmental impact, the Botley West development will cover 1,300 hectares and contribute 870 MW to the National Grid by Autumn 2027. This is a significant step in the UK's energy transition, proving that solar power is essential for a sustainable future. 🌞 Botley West Solar PV: A Major Step Toward Net Zero in the UK 🌱https://lnkd.in/g-7TW3bY #SolarEnergy #RenewableEnergy #NetZero #CleanPower #EnergyTransition #Sustainability

Labour MP for Sefton Central and Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee Chair, MP Bill Esterson, has visited the Port of Liverpool to see progress on the development of the UK's largest roof mounted solar system. The project between E.ON and Peel Ports Group involves the installation of 63,000 solar panels at Merseyside port, which is set to generate up to 31MW of renewable energy - around 25% of the Port’s annual electricity needs - and save 6,500 tonnes of CO2e per year, which is the equivalent to more than 2,250 cars taken off the roads. https://bit.ly/48G6ts4 #port #liverpool #solar #solar #energy

Low Carbon is pleased to confirm plans to develop a new 500MW renewable energy park in Kent. South Kent Energy Park will be a new solar and energy storage park, which will power the equivalent of more than 140,000 homes – approximately 20% of Kent’s households – every year. The approximately 600-hectare site is located near the village of Old Romney within the Folkestone and Hythe District. “We are pleased to announce our plans for South Kent Energy Park, which once built will play a crucial role in providing a clean, secure, and affordable source of energy generation in support of the UK’s decarbonisation targets,” said James Hartley-Bond, Project Development Director at Low Carbon. “In delivering South Kent Energy Park, we want to give the local community the opportunity to collaborate with us and shape the project from an early stage of the design process.” Today is the start of Low Carbon’s first phase of community outreach, with local residents and businesses invited to attend one of the in-person or online events planned to take place over the coming weeks. Read more about the announcement: https://lnkd.in/es9EcdZe Due to its size and energy contribution, South Kent Energy Park is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. It will require an application for development consent to be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate, with the consent determined by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband. Earlier this year, Low Carbon was granted development consent for Gate Burton Energy Park – another Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project – which once built will provide enough solar capacity to power approximately 160,000 homes with clean energy. Low Carbon is on a mission. Together, we will power tomorrow. #Renewables #Solar #BESS #PoweringTomorrow
