Earlier this year, more than 68% of the Swiss population approved a new electricity law to accelerate renewable energy development. The law provides new incentives to develop PV. New buildings with a construction surface area of more than 300 m² must have solar installations on their roofs or facades. The business opportunities in the Swiss residential sector for solar panel installation are just one of many topics discussed at Solar & Storage Live Zürich - for details about featuring at next year's conference contact Afef Chiraj or Mark Lewis for exhibiting and sponsorship options https://lnkd.in/eYsYjf5n

In the field of photovoltaics, there are always almost absurd claims about how supposedly inefficient this technology is. One of my favourite nonsense claims is that the production of PV modules consumes more energy than these modules can supply. The latest report from the Fraunhofer Institute takes up this question (which makes clear that it must unfortunately have a certain relevance) and refutes it with a wealth of facts. https://lnkd.in/dUcSjDj5, p.50 ff #pv, #fraunhofer, #cce, #nonsenseclaims

It is important to address existing challenges that affect many of the international investors in Chile and to push for the implementation of political promises, in particular the expansion of the grid. Further on we expect the reduction of lateral costs (e.g. minimo technico and PMGD), which have been multiplied over the last years and are 12-15 times higher than the budget based on the tender. At wpd, we have been working for over a year on proposals and initiatives aimed at contributing to the public discussion to generate support for correcting market distortions with the goal of achieving a clean, reliable energy industry at competitive prices. #wpd #Chile #renewables #onshorewind #greenhydrogen

At Hager Group, we are convinced that bidirectional charging is an important building block for a successful energy transition. It will help us use renewable energies more flexibly, enabling us to store energy when it's available and use it wherever and whenever needed. This marks a huge milestone. But what is the regulatory situation for #v2g, #v2h, and #v2x, and Co? We've delved into the legal landscape of bidirectional charging. All alarm bells must ring! The German Federal Audit office has assessed the current state of the #energytransition targeting 80% of electricity consumption in 2030 supplied by #renewables in #germany and concluded the following: - any energy system has to be affordable, secure and sustainable - the current speed of adding new renewable capacity is too low to meet the targets - the back-up power system in its current design falls short of what is needed - the grid expansion is too slow - the cost of the energy transition have not yet been fully disclosed and may jeopardize the competitiveness of Germany as an investment location What should Germany to do differently to assure the magic triangle of affordable, secure and sustainable electric #power now and in the future?

It was a pleasure to share Dii Desert Energy / Desertec3.0 journey and future outlook in a recent interview with Karsten Wiedemann from energate. Starting with our roots in 2009, we have experienced what could truly be described as an unparalleled success in initiating the energy transition in the MENA region, despite facing initial trials and errors. But we learned to focus on practical benefits such as job creation and infrastructure improvement, which are essential to fostering trust and support from local communities. This approach on local net-zero and low-carbon developments has contributed to a proliferation of solar and wind energy projects across the Middle East and North Africa. This strategic shift not only supports the region’s energy needs sustainably but also underpins the 95 hydrogen projects that are now taking shape. Looking ahead, the export of clean energy stands as the next major phase. This transition is contingent upon the readiness of demand centers to invest in and develop the necessary transport infrastructures. Facilitating international cooperation and infrastructure development will enable these exports like to Europe. Dii Desert Energy is committed to being at the forefront of this transformative shift. Therefore we have e.g. initiated ZETA (Zero Emissions Traders Alliance), aimed at developing a tradable market for hydrogen and zero-emission energies, starting from the MENA region. #RenewableEnergy #Hydrogen #Sustainability #MENA #EnergyTransition #Desertec Klaus Schmidtke Lutz Cleffmann Paul van Son Valeria Maria Aruffo https://lnkd.in/dFiwYBMR

Quite exciting developments are underway in Germany’s energy landscape! Yesterday, the German parliament Bundestag passed a law for hydrogen motorways Almost 10,000 kilometres of hydrogen network are to be created in Germany. Let’s delve into the key aspects and challenges this revision brings: # A hydrogen core network worth billions is to be built in Germany, as the Bundestag has decided in a law. Specifically, this involves amendments to the Energy Industry Act and a legal framework, particularly for the financing of the core network. The law still has to pass the Bundesrat. # The core network will comprise the most important pipelines of the future hydrogen transport and import infrastructure. A total of 9700 kilometres of pipelines are planned. Essentially, it should be in place by 2032, but projects can also be subsidised until 2037. This is also intended to spread the financing burden for operators. # The aim is to connect further hydrogen consumers and producers as well as hydrogen storage facilities beyond the hydrogen core network and to establish a nationwide hydrogen network. To this end, comprehensive, regular network development planning for hydrogen is to be introduced into the Energy Industry Act in the near future. There quite some doubts expressed by the transmission grid operators whether the financing framework for such H2 projects will work. What is your opinion on this? #hydrogen #hoganlovells #energytransition https://lnkd.in/e-uUrGiG

Renewable energy transition in Germany fails due to Dunkelflauten! > Dunkelflauten can last up to eleven days with little to no solar and wind power generation. > Batteries and pumped storage systems only last for 18 hours. > Backup power plants stand still for 94% of the time. > As a result the price of electricity would rise immeasurable. https://lnkd.in/d6BHzhAg

History will tell us who out of Denmark or Germany that has been most “in the blue” on their green transition illusions, economic and physical reality will always catch up. Here is the fifth holy grail in Energiewende, Hydrogen https://lnkd.in/gMnqq_FU on the table again. Some quotes from the article: “But there is also very fundamental criticism of the Danish hydrogen vision. "The Danish industry would need German customers who will pay five to ten times as much for energy from green hydrogen than currently for energy from natural gas," says Morten Springborg from asset manager CWorldwide Asset Management. Only then would the investments pay off.” “ This can perhaps be imagined for companies where energy accounts for only a small part of the costs, but not for the energy-intensive industries that the Danish industry has in its sights. I don't know how to come up with such an idea, because at such prices, the competitiveness of German industry would go down the flute." This would also speak in favor of an expansion on a smaller scale: Customers in some industries such as chemistry do not need green hydrogen primarily as an energy carrier, but because of its chemical properties. The question is whether they need as much as the Danish industry hopes.” https://lnkd.in/ggN6iASM
