Reflecting on CLIA in Europe Cruise Week 2024 in Genoa, Italy The CLIA Cruise Week 2024, hosted in the city of Genoa, was an important maritime gathering that propelled us toward a greener, more sustainable future for cruising. A wide range of topics was discussed but let’s dive into my personal highlights: 1. Marine Life Protection - We delved into critical topics, including reducing unintended whale strikes. - By fostering collaboration among NGOs, Cruise Lines, and cutting-edge technology, we’re safeguarding our oceans and their delicate ecosystems. - A standout moment: Paul Trouth (HELCOM - Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission) shared insights on the ambitious goal of designating 30% of the Baltic Sea as protected areas by 2030. 2. Fueling Change - Focusing on strategies to reduce methane slip in maritime LNG. - Did you know that 63% of new cruise vessels on the order book for the next five years will be powered by LNG? - The concerted efforts of engine suppliers, shipyards, and cruise lines will reduce slippage for the global LNG fleet. - Michele Francioni (MSC Cruises) unveiled the MSC approach to tackling this challenge head-on. 3. Seamless Passenger Experience - Imagine a world where flying and cruising integrate seamlessly. - Cutting-edge technologies from biometrics to end-to-end luggage handling and data management will elevate customer satisfaction. - Benoit Verbaere (SITA) shared how aviation industry innovations can be transferred to the cruise sector and ports. Overall, it was an absolute joy reconnecting with colleagues, clients, and friends during this enriching event. A heartfelt thank you to CLIA for fostering these conversations and driving positive change in the cruise industry. #CruiseIndustry #Sustainability #Maritime #Innovation #GreenShipping #CLIA #Genoa #SITA #WeCruiseTogether #WeAreCruise

Your Cruise Coach: A content writer and journalist specializing in cruise travel, promoting cruising to the world
From his humble beginnings as a cruise ship waiter, Christopher Prelog rose through the ranks to become President of Windstar Cruises. But the man behind the cool glasses remains affable, approachable, and fun, and it was a great pleasure to meet and get to know him a little in April as I sailed onboard the President's Cruise. In my article published on Travelweek, read about how Chris is taking Windstar to new horizons and the sales resources Canadian travel advisors can access to grow their business. Heysea New Energy Seaview 50 Sailing Catamaran Embarks on a Green Journey to Thailand Marking a new chapter in maritime technology, on November 21st, Xinhui Port in China bid farewell to a groundbreaking voyage—a 50-foot sailing catamaran, Heysea the fifth new energy Seaview 50, embarked on a journey to Phuket, Thailand, equipped with an innovative new energy storage system. This vessel is not just a showcase of the cutting-edge of China's yacht manufacturing; it's a daring foray into the integration of green energy in navigation. Designed and built by Heysea, a leading Chinese shipbuilder, the fifth Seaview 50 sailing catamaran pioneers a "wind + solar + electric storage" energy solution. This trifecta of new energy technologies is a testament to China's strides in the realm of eco-friendly marine vessels. Sailing into the Future with New Energy Overall length of 15.20 meters and 8.02 meters in width, the fifth Seaview 50 boasts a CE Category A certification for unlimited navigation zones. Its main sail covers 80 square meters, and the foresail an additional 50 square meters, harnessing the wind as the primary force for propulsion, supported by a pair of Volvo 50hp engines. The hardtop-installed solar panels further enhance its green credentials by converting sunlight into electricity for onboard use. Seaview 50's standout feature is its 47.10KWH lithium iron phosphate battery, a new generation of energy storage. Capable of being charged through solar power, generators, or shore-based charging stations, this battery can power the vessel's air conditioning for 6-8 hours on a full charge. This ensures a steady power supply without the need to run the generator, providing a tranquil environment for rest. This design optimizes fuel consumption, minimizes the carbon footprint, and aligns with the tightening global environmental regulations, propelling the industry towards greener horizons. Heysea Yachts' Expansion into Southeast Asia Heysea has earned a stellar reputation by delivering several well-received Seaview series sailing catamarans in mainland China and Hong Kong, garnering the trust of discerning boat owners. Seaview 50's arrival in Thailand signifies a strategic move into the Southeast Asian market. In addtion to this , Heysea's Asteria 142 superyacht is currently moored in Phuket, with its owner setting sail on a global adventure. Looking ahead to 2025, Heysea is poised to deliver a fleet of new energy sailing catamarans to the United States, Australia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean region of Europe. This expansion into mainstream markets will reaffirm Heysea's prowess in research, design, and the allure of its brand.

A CRUISE RECORD PRIZE? With the speed record for an electric boat standing at 114 mph and for the 24-Hour electric cruise record at 420 nautical miles, we would like to propose an INCENTIVE monetary prize for the first polyboatglobal.com challenger boat to complete more than 45 cruises inside one contest year and within 5 years of the announcement of the prize. If those 5 years pass without a serious attempt, the prize will be renewed for another 5 years. In the past, wealthy philanthropists have given such glittering prizes for, for example, the first aeroplane to cross the Atlantic from New York to Paris, or the first human-powered plane to fly across the English Channel, or the first privately-built rocket to make two flights. Four our prize, the same rules would apply as are found on this website, except that the number of ‘same theme’ cruises goes down from 5 to 3. So only 3 floral cruises, three school cruises etc. We are currently open to offers from a “business angel”- philanthropist who would joins us in a belief in using passenger electric pleasureboats for their local community.
