Last of the Mohicans: R.I.P John Prescott, a self-made, working-class politician, represented a breed of leaders who were deeply rooted in the communities they served. His journey from ship steward to Deputy Prime Minister was emblematic of Labour’s traditional connection to working-class movements and values. In contrast, there’s a growing perception that contemporary political figure(like Lady Victoria (sorry Sir Starmer)) and across parties, not just Labour—are increasingly drawn from professional political backgrounds. Many enter politics after working in think tanks, lobbying groups, or as parliamentary aides, and their careers are often shaped by party machinery rather than grassroots activism. This trend has arguably led to a political class that prioritizes loyalty to party structures over independent thought or direct representation of working-class interests We therefore are “occupied” by the club/lobby.

It was great to join Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty, officials from the TN Dept. of Economic & Community Development, and members of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation in Nashville earlier today. Automotive OEMs and their suppliers operate in 88 of Tennessee’s 95 counties—including Lawrence County! Quick facts: ➡️ Since 2018, auto suppliers have announced plans to invest more than $211+ million and create 475 new jobs in Lawrence County. ➡️ Today, local auto suppliers employ a combined 868 workers—and will employ well over 1,000 workers by 2026. ➡️ Since 2018, automotive OEMs and suppliers have created more than 4,000 jobs within a 60-mile radius of Lawrence County.

The key is continuous learning aligned with high demand skills. Traditional Americans place a high emphasis on career convenience and "balance". The rest focus on what we used to focus on. Learning, growing, changing, evolving, becoming more, and being others focused.
Some of the most successful people in the United States are from minority groups. America is the land of opportunity 🇺🇸

Right. So now it’s official: 80% of all Saxons foster a conservative and/or backwards oriented view. Doesn't surprise the connoisseur, but it gives a certain clarity… Now what? How the hell are we to build the most audacious wings ever to touch the skies under these circumstances? And it’s not just the issue of getting skilled workers. It’s also the whole rotten atmosphere and negative attitude towards the new and audacious, held by so many people here. This is what really fucks everything up. If Germany is shackled by the German Angst, Saxony is doubly so. And thus, the fear of loss in wealth becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy... Insert face in palm. So help me out here, people! Where could guys like us go? Where do people foster positive and progressive energy? Where do people appreciate the audacity and grit it takes to dare the impossible? Yeah, we have been to the Valley, but consider Trump. So any other ideas?

#PresidentCarter is in a class unlike any other former or current U.S. President. Think about the significance: For 100 years, as a President and private citizen, Mr. Carter has had the most years of service in, and greatest impact on, our country and globally. #JimmyCarter100

If you are fed up of top down and fancy some bottom up politics, let’s talk.
It's time. Time to elect fantastic Liberal Democrat MPs to champion their communities. Time to change the system and give people real hope. Time to smash the blue wall and kick out the Conservatives. Time to deliver the fair deal the British people deserve.

In what is now known as Juneteenth, on June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrive in Galveston, Texas with news that the Civil War is over and slavery in the United States is abolished. A mix of June and 19th, Juneteenth has become a day to commemorate the end of slavery in America. Despite the fact that President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was issued more than two years earlier on January 1, 1863, a lack of Union troops in the rebel state of Texas made the order difficult to enforce. Some historians blame the lapse in time on poor communication in that era, while others believe Texan slave-owners purposely withheld the information. Upon arrival and leading the Union soldiers, Major Gen. Gordon Granger announced General Order No. 3: "The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. This involves an absolute equality of personal rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves, and the connection heretofore existing between them becomes that between employer and hired labor. The freedmen are advised to remain quietly at their present homes and work for wages. They are informed that they will not be allowed to collect at military posts and that they will not be supported in idleness either there or elsewhere." On that day, 250,000 enslaved people were freed, and despite the message to stay and work for their former owners, many left the state immediately and headed north or to nearby states in search of family members who had been taken to other regions during slavery. For many African Americans, June 19 is considered an independence day. Before 2021, nearly all 50 states recognized Juneteenth as a state holiday. On June 17, 2021, President Biden signed legislation officially declaring it a federal holiday.
