"The speed, scale and scope of the energy transition is colossal... and it is untenable for the UK to achieve its carbon reduction targets without decarbonising transport." Dr Gary Kendall provided a pertinent reminder of why were all in the room at yesterday's excellent Logistics UK Delivering Decarbonisation 2024 conference, which was both inspiring and thoughtful. How we get there is the challenge. At Relode we believe access to public eHGV charging that is reliable, safe and cost-effective will be a vital part of the solution. Our network of Power Parks will feature eHGV charging hubs offering rapid and overnight charging for 50+ vehicles at strategic locations UK-wide. We're starting now to ensure this infrastructure is ready and available to meet the net zero ambitions of the road haulage industry and logistics in the UK. 🔌 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀: 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗅 Ingenious Solution for Electric Vehicle Charging. In Scotland, old green utility boxes that once held broadband and phone cables are finding new life as electric vehicle charging points. This innovative approach to repurposing existing infrastructure is a game-changer in accelerating the decarbonization of transport in our cities. The World Economic Forum's Global New Mobility Coalition (GNMC) is at the forefront of this effort, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive the transition to electric mobility. With the transport sector being the fastest-growing emitter of greenhouse gases, the adoption of electric vehicles is crucial in reducing our carbon footprint. Leading car manufacturers are setting ambitious targets to introduce a wide range of new EV models in the coming years, and initiatives like the GNMC are supporting this transition by promoting fiscal incentives, regulatory policies, and the deployment of charging infrastructure. The biggest challenge for EVs are chargers. IN EUROPE WE ARE FAR BEHIND! Imagine the impact this could have on our environment. By converting existing infrastructure into EV charging points, as seen in Scotland, we can make electric vehicle adoption more accessible and convenient for drivers. This innovative approach aligns with the GNMC's mission to foster sustainable mobility solutions that reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality in cities worldwide. But innovation like this needs support and awareness. By sharing and discussing these advancements, we can drive more interest and investment into environmental technologies. Government and private sectors need to work together to make our cities smarter! Let's use the tech we have to improve our world. #EVCharging #SustainableMobility #Innovation #techforgood #smartcity

Key themes on Retrofit from the first day of Futurebuild 2024. Scaling up, learning from experience, capturing data. I heard a number of speakers make the point that we largely know how to retrofit buildings for energy efficiency and occupant wellbeing, the gap is in scaling this up because the supply chains and funding to do so are severely lacking. A lot of emphasis was also placed on learning from projects undertaken to date and capturing data and outcomes from these projects. We’re doing this at McBains as we deliver PAS2035 aligned retrofit, but no two projects are the same so lessons need to be shared. Handing over to Tassos Kougionis for day 2. #retrofit #energyefficiency #netzero2050
