Balancing Learning and Performance Zones at Work This insightful video on the Learning Zone and Performance Zone helps us professionals, understand the distinction between these two mental states is crucial for personal growth and success. Learning Zone: A state characterized by deliberate practice, exploration, and a focus on growth. Here, we acquire new skills, expand knowledge, and embrace challenges. We’re willing to make mistakes, learn from failures, and push our boundaries. Key aspects: embracing discomfort, purposeful practice, and seeking feedback. Performance Zone: A state where we apply the skills and knowledge acquired in the learning zone. it’s execution time—showcasing competence and delivering tangible results. We fine-tune our expertise, perform under pressure, and achieve outcomes. Why Does It Matter? Balance: Spending all our time in the performance zone hinders growth. Alternating between zones is key. Immediate vs. Future Performance: Learning maximizes our future performance, while performance maximizes our immediate results1. Here's "my story" article on education and mentorship: *Bridging the Skills Gap: My Journey to Empower Professionals* As a passionate advocate for education and employment, I've always believed that learning should lead to earning. Three years ago, I launched a mentorship program rooted in #Sinkalaism, focusing on re-skilling professionals based on industrial demand. Today, I'm proud to have empowered over 300 individuals to bridge the gap between education and employment. *The Problem: Education vs. Industrial Demand* Traditional education often prioritizes theoretical knowledge over practical skills, leaving graduates unprepared for the workforce. CEOs expect employees with skills tailored to their industry's needs, but the education system frequently falls short. This mismatch fuels unemployment, frustration, and untapped potential. *The Solution: Mentorship and Re-Skilling* My mentorship program addresses this gap by: 1. Identifying in-demand skills in various industries 2. Providing personalized guidance and training 3. Fostering connections between professionals and industry leaders By re-skilling professionals based on industrial demand, we're empowering them to meet CEOs' expectations and secure fulfilling careers. *The Impact: Over 300 Professionals Re-Skilled* In just three years, our program has: 1. Enhanced the skills of over 300 professionals 2. Fostered a community of supportive peers and mentors 3. Facilitated connections leading to job placements and career growth *Join the Movement: #Sinkalaism in Action* Let's revolutionize education and employment together! Share your own stories, and let's work towards a future where learning leads to earning. #MentorshipMatters #ReSkillRevolution #EducationForEmployment #Sinkalaism #IndustryDemand #CareerGrowth #JobReadiness #SkillsGap #UnemploymentSolutions #EmpowermentThroughEducation

Have a plan, or Become someones plan. As L&D professionals, we know the importance of a roadmap. But what about our employees? The saying goes: "If you don't have a plan, you become part of someone else's plan." This is especially true in the ever-changing world of work. Without a clear career development plan, employees risk getting swept up in the current, landing in roles that don't align with their strengths or aspirations. Here's how we can empower our teams to chart their own course: Individualized Development Plans (IDPs): Facilitate conversations to help employees identify their goals and bridge the skills gap. Mentorship Programs: Pair experienced employees with mentees to provide guidance and support. Skills Development Opportunities: Offer a variety of learning resources, from workshops to online courses, to help employees build their skillset. Regular Check-Ins: Schedule regular meetings to discuss progress, address challenges, and keep the development plan on track. By investing in employee development planning, we're not just shaping their careers, we're shaping the future of our organizations. What are your thoughts on the importance of development planning? Research and our own experiences makes it pretty clear that employees want opportunities to learn. And as they enhance their skills, they become more productive, benefiting both themselves and the organization as a whole. 💪 It isn’t, however, always easy to know the best ways to create meaningful opportunities for growth. 🪴 And one reason for this is that creating successful learning environments requires us to use what we know about how people learn 🧠 and understand the influence of context. 🧱Learning science principles are foundational to a lot of the work that learning and development professionals do. And they SHOULD inform learning and development efforts—but that’s not always the case! ⚙️Anyone who is working to create workplace learning opportunities so people can deepen their current skills and learn news ones, needs to know things that can help them and things that can get in the way of success. I had a great time talking about these issues this week with a group of coaches, educators, and L&D professionals 🙏🙏 My mission is to bring learning science out of the ivory tower and into the workplace to improve outcomes for all! Let me know if you're interested in the recording of our session ➡️ Pathways to Growth: How to Create a Strong Learning Culture to Support Meaningful Employee Career Development and I'll share it with you! #retention #workplacelearning #employeeengagement #growth #learningscience To Eleven, LLC

It’s not news that people leave organizations because their training is poor. L&D has got such a huge opportunity. By understanding the gaps between current training and employee needs, we can build better strategies for 2025 and beyond. Feedback – even painful, hard to hear feedback – is information. We’ve all been there. We all know what it’s like to hear ‘could do better’ (I hear it from my piano teacher every week!) As life-long learners, we know that feedback is the best foundation for improvement, even when it’s hard to hear. If this is you right now, take the time to learn: - What your audience didn’t value - What they expected - What they wanted - What that gap was - What they’d love to learn Now you can fill that gap with purpose! Your colleagues will see that L&D is listening to them. This engagement creates a powerful foundation to build learning strategies that deliver: - The growth people need - Results your organization wants - Retention rates that prove your impact By transforming feedback into action, you're not just fixing problems – you're building a learning culture that drives success. Want to improve your L&D impact? Start by asking the right questions and truly listening to the answers. #TalentDevelopment #TalentManagement #LearningStrategy #EmployeeEngagement
