🌍 Driving Sustainability: European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) The EUDR is more than just a regulation, it's a crucial step towards a greener future. Here’s why it’s making waves: 1. Fighting Deforestation: EUDR restricts deforestation-linked products from entering the EU market, pushing for sustainable sourcing globally. 2. Climate Champion: Forests absorb carbon. By protecting them, EUDR supports the fight against climate change. 3. Biodiversity Boost: Safeguarding forests means protecting countless species and precious ecosystems. 4. Supply Chain Clarity: EUDR promotes transparency, helping consumers make eco-friendly choices. 5. Economic Shift: It’s a win for businesses focusing on sustainability, driving a shift toward ethical economies. EUDR is setting a global standard, empowering both businesses and consumers to lead the way in environmental stewardship. PS: Not to be confused with EuDR (European Disaster Resilience). 😉 #Sustainability #EUDR #ClimateAction #GreenEconomy #Biodiversity #DeforestationFree #SupplyChain #EthicalBusiness

The state of our environment is dire........... Climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss threaten our planet and ourselves. Richard Rogers emphasizes that everyone's involvement is crucial to improve our environment. Individual actions matter. Simple changes like using reusable bags and choosing eco-friendly products can create a positive impact. Educating others and supporting responsible businesses magnify our influence. Organizations also have a part to play. Integrating sustainable practices and partnering with environmental groups demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship. Businesses can be powerful advocates for change. Governments hold a key role. Strong environmental regulations and investments in renewable energy are essential. Additionally, international cooperation is crucial to address global challenges like deforestation. By working together – individuals, organizations, and governments – we can create a significant impact. As Richard Rogers suggests, this is a collective responsibility. Let's embrace collaboration to ensure a healthy planet for future generations. #BeyondTheClassroom #SocialResponsibility #BeyondTheClassroomSocialResponsibility #environmentalresponsibility #collectiveaction #climateaction #sustainability #gogreen #savetheplanet #renewableenergy #protectouroceans #internationalcooperation #ecofriendly #businessresponsibility #sustainablefuture

🌍 Keeping up with new EU policies At SO.G.I.S., we are committed every day to supporting and promoting environmental sustainability. 2023/115/EC, also known as the Deforestation Regulations, renewed the importance of protecting and restoring the world's forests, a commitment that resonates deeply with our mission. New policies aim to reduce the EU GHGs emissions and incentivize the use of products derived from deforestation-free supply chains. This approach helps combat climate change and biodiversity loss and also promotes the long-term sustainability of the oils and derivatives industry, including our products, such as metal soaps, Esters and amides from Fatty Acids. We enthusiastically welcome EU directives for more sustainable and responsible management of natural resources. At SO.G.I.S., we have always valued the use of sustainable raw materials and are committed to further strengthening these practices. The term "nature positive" is gaining traction, but it risks becoming just another buzzword without clear standards and robust metrics to ensure accountability. We currently have an overwhelming number of methods—around 600—for tracking biodiversity, leading to confusion and potential greenwashing. This highlights the urgent need for a streamlined framework, like the net-zero pathway established post- The Paris Agreement. 🌍 🍀 Businesses must recognize that setting targets is not enough; credible, actionable plans with sufficient investment are essential to making real progress. Standardized approaches, like the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures, show promise but must move from voluntary guidelines to regulatory norms to ensure lasting impact!! The road to a truly "nature positive" economy will be very challenging, but not unachievable. #naturepositive #netzero #climate #COP
