They’re usually cheap plastic gimmicks packed in their thousands for visitors to throw away in a few days & scream harmful to the planet on every level. The 18th edition marks a turning point, featuring over 270 exhibitors across 4,300 square meters dedicated to innovation, and introducing two new sectors: Storage and Electric Mobility, alongside the more established sectors dedicated to the Circular Economy. The significant Italian presence, supported by ICE - Italian Trade Agency, includes prominent companies such as CAPPELLOTTO, WECOVE, and UDOR in the transport sector, MEGA SYSTEM, SYSTEA, and LABIO TEST in monitoring, CIRCULAR MATERIALS and ZENIT in water treatment, and COMPOPACK and OFFICINE SOSTENIBILI in recycling, with SIMA handling waste treatment. When you look around, it’s so easy to take our built environments – and the materials that make them – for granted. In our CHAIN Magazine cover interview this month, I sat down with Ben Garner, Head of Logistics Development & Standards at construction materials giant Tarmac, to discuss the company’s sustainable solutions and the role of logistics in facilitating them. Ben also shared his insights into how Tarmac is forging new partnerships to facilitate transformation in the construction industry. “Innovation is driving change as the industry continues to make progress to support the UK government’s legally binding commitment to net zero by 2050,” said Ben. “As requirements for zero-emissions vehicles move closer, we need to be proactive in our transition. Whew! What an exciting and inspiring two days at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas. It’s really happening — Commercial fleets are moving full steam ahead in finding ways to deliver clean energy solutions to the industry. From innovations in electric bikes to clean fuels, there’s just so much development leading us in a positive direction.
