Some food for thought as you watch the amazing athletes at the Olympics this year. "In a survey of about 1,000 American athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic pipelines, 26.5% reported individual incomes under $15,000 a year." We love watching our country's athletes compete on the world stage, but remember that most are 1) not receiving extra $$$ from the big media and corporate endorsement $$, and 2) even if they get a boost in the Olympic weeks, they've gone through YEARS of hard work and struggle to get there. At Spid Werkz Foundation, we are here to help extraordinary athletes bridge financial and support gaps. With help from you, we can change the story for future athletes and use sport for good across the world! Please consider a tax deductible donation to support Olympic and Paralympic athletes! https://lnkd.in/eqacx6-2

Something tells us that after yesterday's 13th Annual JLL Real Estate Charity Beach Volleyball Tournament (congrats to the winners!) and a demanding morning, your minds are already on the weekend 😎 And we don't blame you!—we were there too! That's why we recommend checking out more books from our library. This time, our CEO, Tom—one of the biggest bookaholics on our team—shares his picks 🔥. On the list https://lnkd.in/drXSmcWU , you'll find: 📖 one book he’s read 3 or more times, 📖 one book he’s read twice, 📖 one book he’s read once, 📖 and one book he likes to jump across. Because more is better, right? In the photo: the library at the Grupa Pracuj office (source: press materials). Nice, isn't it? 🙃 If you have a book nook set up at your place, share a photo in the comments.

Is it just me or is this month flying by? We only have just a little over a week left to send out this hairy season in well-manicured style. It's been a journey, so let’s bring this Movember home with a bang. By now you’ve surely seen the Mo’s sprouting and spreading all around you. While I recommend resisting the urge to touch or stroke your colleagues’ Mo’s, please don’t be shy when it comes to heaping on the praise. In addition to raising critical funds for men’s health, Movember is also about encouraging open and honest conversations. With that in mind, I wanted to share Patrick Chan’s story where Olympic figure skater, Patrick Chan, reflects on his career in sport. From his care-free first time on the ice, to the Olympics and home again. The wins, the expectations, the pressure, and his message to the next generation. Patrick Mo’s with the hope that his son will grow up in a world with less stigma and more space for men and young boys to talk about their feelings. Read and see his full story: https://bit.ly/3QHMHDF Eight days of hairy goodness left. And it’s all in the name of helping men live healthier, longer lives. Let’s get to it. Please donate here: https://lnkd.in/g5v-mdw5 #movember2024 #movember #movemberfoundation #charity #mentalhealth #research #health #prostatecancer #menshealth #testicularcancer #canada

✨ Have you ever watched Paralympic Sitting Volleyball? ✨ Take a moment to check out this incredible clip of USA Volleyball Women facing China in the Paris 2024 Gold Medal match—where they secured their third straight gold! 🏅🏅🏅 The pace is electric, the skill is mind-blowing, and the passion? Unmatched. But what’s truly inspiring is the journey behind the game. These women are not just athletes—they’re balancing careers, family, and the demands of competing on the international stage. And here’s the thing: they aren’t doing it for the money. Like many Olympic and Paralympic athletes, their motivation runs deeper. When you support organizations like the USA Volleyball Foundation you’re doing more than just funding a sport. You’re empowering athletes like these women with limb differences to be role models, showing young amputees—and girls everywhere—that they, too, can dream big and achieve greatness. It’s not just about winning medals; it’s about showing what’s possible on the biggest stage. 🏐💪 Let’s celebrate and support these incredible women, paving the way for future generations. As my 50th Birthday-50k steps-$50,000 fundraiser kicks off, this is one of the organizations I will be raising money for. Keep following along the journey! #Paralympics #SittingVolleyball #USAVolleyball #Inspiration #AdaptiveSports #WomenInSports

It’s honestly surprising – and a little disheartening – to see the lack of interest in supporting a project that could have such a transformative impact on young people across the Midlands. We’re in a region filled with some of the most innovative and profitable organisations in the country, yet the enthusiasm to give back to the community through initiatives like this seems to be missing. Where are the forward-thinking, community-orientated business leaders who truly want to leave a legacy? This is an opportunity to empower thousands of youngsters, improve their physical and mental health, and inspire them to reach their full potential. It’s about so much more than just table tennis—it’s about creating opportunities, building confidence, and shaping the future of our region. The Jack Petchey Foundation has proven how successful this kind of initiative can be in London and Essex. Why can’t we replicate that here in the Midlands? Surely, there’s a business leader out there who understands that the biggest impact isn’t just measured in profits but in the difference they make to people’s lives. If we’re serious about building stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities, now is the time to step up. Let’s not let this opportunity slip away! #TableTennis #MidlandsInspiration #NextGeneration #YouthDevelopment #JackPetcheyFoundation #SportsForAll #Midlands #Midlandsmanufacturing #midlandbusiness #inspirationalleaders

Please have a read of this post, a great effort been put in by these two! If you can spare some money please donate, and share the post so more people see what they are doing.
Today - Friday 16th August 2024, marks 75 days since Mhairi and I set off on our 7m rowing boat to row around Britain. Since setting off, we have not had any external support - or gone ashore. We had hoped to have been home around ten days ago, however the good old British summer has held us back. My before and current photo says a lot about what we have endured so far, but we chose to be here. Why the long post? Well, we need your help. We are raising vital funds for two amazing charities. Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) and RNLI Please have a look our website for more information, and if you feel like donating, you will not only help the charity(s), but give us a massive mental boost by seeing your support. We have well under 300nm to go, and your support would mean the world to us. Thank you! www.thelongrowhome.co.uk https://lnkd.in/ecFW7T55
