Council of Europe is for #FairSport = #FairSocieties Today in Porto, at their 18th Conference, Council of Europe Sports Ministers adopted a resolution, underlining that in light of the societal benefits of sport, it has to be promoted as a common resource, fostering its social, health and educational role and preserving it for future generations. 🔗Text of the resolution: https://lnkd.in/d6hi6kam Ministers commit, and call for a fresh approach to #CollaborativeGoverning and #GoodGovernanceInSport. This notably implies for states and sport organisations to sustain a continuous dialogue with athletes, local clubs, concerned youth representatives and civil society, recognising them as instrumental partners in promoting values-based sport. In addition to producing an amazing competition, UEFA ensured that this tournament set global benchmarks for sustainability at major sporting events. 🏆⚽ 🏟️ The German Football Federation 🇩🇪 and UEFA have been instrumental in shaping EURO 2024 sustainability agenda. This tournament was set out to be the most sustainable EURO competition ever hosted, the organisers put together a robust Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. 🏟️ 🍃 🌱 Some of the key goals of UEFA's sustainability strategy: 🚀 ⬇️ 🎥 ✅ Environmental impact reduction: This refers to innovative waste management strategies aimed at minimizing the tournament's ecological footprint. ✅ Social inclusivity and anti-discrimination: A pledge to uphold human rights, combat discrimination and promote inclusivity across all tournament activities. ✅ Promotion of physical activity and healthy living: Stadiums and venues offer healthy food and beverage options, promoting physical well-being among fans. ✅ Transparency and accountability: The tournament operations will adhere to transparent and responsible practices, setting a precedent for governance in sports events.
