Choices and consequences. The life of a public sports figure is lived in a fish bowl. Like it or not, the DWI as applied to a professional OC (while presumably no different than when applied to an ordinary citizen) ripples throughout the organization and right to the issues of #reputationmanagement. It may also come back to haunt if a HC position comes up in the future. It was a mistake in all probability, a lapse of judgment, but for Phillips it was an unethical decision that stretches beyond the normal price paid for any DWI situation. https://lnkd.in/e7GFdmfJ

I’m The Contract Doctor, and I’m here to show you why contracts are everything! Just like Derrick Henry bulldozing his way through Dallas Cowboy defenders, NFL teams are shelling out massive contracts to their QBs—hoping for a touchdown, but too often, they’re getting tackled behind the line. Take a look: The #Browns aren’t alone. Jaguars handed Trevor Lawrence $275M, and they’ve lost their last 9. Bengals invested the same in Joe Burrow, but he’s spent half his career on IR. Even teams like the Dolphins, Packers, and Chargers paid their QBs over $50M/year—and what did they get? Injuries and uncertainty. The Eagles gave Jalen Hurts $51M/year, and now he’s throwing picks like never before. Contracts shape the game, but more importantly, they shape your life! Don’t just take chances—get it in writing. Always keep a signed copy because, like in the NFL, your success depends on the contracts you stand behind. #NFLContracts #QBInvestments #TheContractDoctor #Book30For30 #LetMeHelpYou #Text4436259313

🏈 The NFL is considering eliminating the hip-drop tackle and will review the so-called "tush push" in the offseason. 💥 The "tush push," a successful play used by the Philadelphia Eagles, has been legal since 2005. However, the hip-drop tackle increases the risk of injury by 25 times the rate of a standard tackle. 🤝 The league is gathering data and conducting a study on the hip-drop tackle to make a determination. The NFL's competition committee discussed potentially banning the "tush push" but didn't come up with a rule. 🔒 The use of Guardian caps in training camps has led to a seven-year low in concussions among players who wore them. 💡 The NFL is looking to incorporate what they've learned from the Guardian cap into better helmet design for player safety. #NFL #PlayerSafety #TransitionPlanning #ConcussionPrevention We'll have to see if this is the last season for the hip-drop tackle or if the maneuver is here to stay. Big 10 Showdown with National Stakes as Penn State Nittany (3) Lions Host the Ohio State Buckeyes (4) The Ohio State Buckeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions face off in what promises to be one of the season’s most pivotal Big Ten matchups. Both teams enter with impressive resumes. Ohio State brings a strong six-win season with only one loss, coming off a narrow victory over Nebraska, while Penn State remains undefeated after seven games, most recently outscoring Wisconsin. The question will be answered for these two teams this week. Which one is truly a contender. Both have played well in stretches and have major talent. Penn State has had some off field distractions, but do have an actual QB that can throw the ball more than 10 yards down the field. Ohio State needs to see if it can show some consistency on both sides of the ball. #PennState #OhioState #collegefootball https://lnkd.in/en9XNfRy

The hip drop tackle is banned from the NFL. I'm a huge fan of defense and tackling the right way. The hip drop tackle allows a smaller man the ability to use their weight to tackle a larger man. I agree with the banning of this type of tackling as long as it is called properly. The ability to use all of your weight against the lower extremities is ending seasons and careers. The horse collar technically is the same situation, the collar of the shoulder pads is used for leverage to drive the defenders' legs into the back of the offensive players legs resulting in lower extremity injuries. The sinical side of me feels that this is another way to increase scoring by the offenses but I've both known and seen many players lose entire seasons to this type of tackling. It's a very fine line that the NFL has to walk when making these types of decisions. If every hip tackle from the side or behind is penalized then this is a ridiculous rule. I do believe that defenders will have to go for the knees as a result of this new rule. Only time will tell if that becomes the next big injury problem in the NFL. Tackling: 1. Head in front of the player to stop forward progress. 2. Wrap up. 3. Drive player to the ground. 4. If you cannot drive them to the ground, hold on until help comes. https://lnkd.in/gRXfDFHc
