As a Ugandan and a health enthusiast, I am deeply concerned about the number of preventable deaths happening not only in my country but worldwide due to the lack of funds for medical treatment. My heart bleeds seeing lives lost needlessly. I believe there is a way we can combat this. Nobody should have to die from a treatable disease because of financial constraints. By harnessing the power of research and data, we can drive innovation and make informed decisions to address these inequalities. Together, let's work towards a future where everyone has access to the medical care they need, regardless of their financial situation. Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in rural Minnesota, and the Heart of Minnesota Coalition is taking action to change that. By shifting from reactive care to a preventative approach, we aim to reduce the 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease by 1% among people aged 40-70 in rural parts of our state. The cause is important to me because I grew up in the kinds of rural communities we're focused on helping. We’re seeking mission-driven investors, philanthropists, and healthcare organizations to join us in building a scalable, sustainable model that improves health outcomes and reduces economic burdens on communities. If you care about equity, rural healthcare, and making a lasting impact, let’s connect! #RuralHealth #HealthcareInnovation #ImpactInvesting #aging #chronicdisease #prevention

September is #NationalRecoveryMonth, when we recognize the more than 21 million Americans in recovery from substance use disorders. Institutions that include #340B hospitals are helping provide resources to make recovery attainable for all who seek it. MedStar Health provides patients with take-home substance-testing kits and reversal medicines that are essential in preventing fatal overdoses. 340B savings help fund a mobile unit that brings these supplies to patients right in their neighborhoods, helping bridge access gaps and creating healthier communities. #Becauseof340B Learn about other case studies in our report: bit.ly/2LYybJV

Excited to share this partnership between the National MS Society and the National Rural Health Association. Access to specialized care can look different in rural areas and this partnership will help increase awareness and resources to improve access to high-quality healthcare.
Senior Director, Healthcare Stakeholders | Collaborating to improve healthcare access for all people with MS
In rural areas, access to specialized MS care can be a challenge, and rural hospitals and clinics are often the first—and sometimes the only—places where residents seek diagnosis and care for MS. I’m excited to announce that the National MS Society recently launched a partnership with the National Rural Health Association to raise awareness about MS among rural health professionals and equip them with the resources needed to deliver high-quality care! ➡️ Read the partnership announcement here: https://lnkd.in/epp_tfUx 📆 …and register for our upcoming webinar (12/17) on how to know MS when you see it: https://lnkd.in/e47YNche

September is Sepsis Awareness Month! This year, we are proud to share that the State of Illinois, thanks to a request initiated by Prenosis, has officially issued a proclamation recognizing the importance of sepsis awareness. We’d like to extend our gratitude to Governor JB Pritzker’s office for its support in bringing attention to this critical issue. #Sepsis affects 1.7 million Americans annually and is the leading cause of hospitalization costs in the U.S., accounting for $62 billion in acute care expenses. Tragically, it claims the lives of 350,000 adults and 6,800 children each year. Raising awareness about sepsis is essential, especially in communities with limited access to healthcare, where the burden is disproportionately high. Proclamations, like the one from Illinois, help shed light on this life-threatening condition and underscore the importance of early recognition and treatment. #SepsisAwarenessMonth #Sepsis #HealthEquity #Prenosis #IllinoisProclamation #Healthcare

Join Premier Health in recognizing August 31 as International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD). IOAD is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, and support the people in our communities who go unrecognized by raising awareness of the hidden impacts of overdose, promoting education of overdose response, and reaching out to politicians to make lasting, lifesaving policy changes. The IOAD 2023 theme “Recognizing those people who go unseen” is about acknowledging people in our communities who are affected by overdose but might go unseen in the crisis. https://lnkd.in/gsPbb9mh "In 2023, 27% of American adults skipped some form of medical treatment because they couldn’t afford it, according to the Federal Reserve. This is lower than the 32% who avoided care in 2013, when data collection began, but ties with 2015 and 2017 as the fourth-highest year on record. The probability of declining medical care seems to correlate with income: 42% of people with a family income under $25,000 skipped some medical treatment in 2023, compared to 12% of people with incomes over $100,000." Free clinics fill in the gap to provide care, and that only supports our entire community. As we work to get people healthy and stay healthy, they are then able to work, care for their families, and be involved in the community. Otherwise, individuals wait until they are so sick they must visit the ER, where they are unable to pay. Giving a donation is truly a gift of health - for the individual who is receiving care and the entire community.
