With Christmas and a New Year on the horizon, it’s easy for challenging feelings to arise. Thoughts of family visits, who to see and who to invite, or thoughts of not having a family, who to buy presents for and what to get, food to order in and to prepare - and financial worries associated with all of the aforementioned. Office parties for some, feeling alone for others, although these two are not mutually exclusive! And then we are surprised when we start to feel overwhelmed and exhausted. 😩 As many of you know, in my counselling work, I now primarily support people who are struggling with sex addiction. If you are someone who uses sex, and/or any other addictive process or substance, to distract from difficult feelings, then the Christmas and New Year period can be a time when you are more likely to easily get triggered.
