Meetings of the CHI group of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile the last two days here in London hosted by the Royal Automobile Club. Interesting challenges ahead within historic motoring, and we managed to discuss the planned developments related to classic car passports, sustainable fuels, and also the technology challenges for future classic car repair and maintenance as digital components might not be available for long. Big difference when it comes to repairing old mechanic components compared to old digital components.

The Society of Motoring Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has recently reported on the rise of electric vehicle car registrations. 🚗 From January to March 2024 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) new car registrations were up over 57% on the same period in 2023. During this period, BEVs, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), and HEVs accounted for well over a third of new cars sold at 36.9% of the UK market. Since 2018, the ADAC has been using parts of the Penzing airbase in Upper Bavaria for tests in the interests of consumer protection 🚗🛡️. In 2022, the Mobility Test Centre opened here, which is also used by companies and universities for testing purposes and events 🏫📊. The vision is for the site to develop a campus character by attracting partners - leading the way in consumer protection and providing impetus for innovative mobility 🚀🌐. Further development of active safety by the ADAC The latest vehicle models and systems are put through their paces at the Mobility Test Centre 🚘🔧. ADAC uses these tests to develop safety requirements for innovative technology 🛠️🔍. Legislators in Berlin and Brussels use ADAC's expert knowledge to develop guidelines for manufacturers 🏛️📜. Consumer protection is the driver of innovation. Without pressure from consumer protection organisations such as the ADAC, there would be no airbags, seat belts or emergency brake assistants 🛡️🚦🆘. Euro NCAP - For Safer Cars, Vans & Trucks an international consumer protection consortium to which ADAC belongs, accelerates the introduction of accident avoidance technologies 🌐🔄. The safety of future vehicle generations is significantly influenced by the tests developed at the Mobility Test Centre 🏎️⚙️. For example, new test procedures for the protection of cyclists have already been successfully developed in Penzing 🚴♂️🛡️. Safe, comfortable and affordable mobility for everyone is an important concern for the ADAC 🚗🏅.
