US President Joe Biden recent executive order signals a pivotal moment for women's health research. With a substantial $200 million investment across multiple agencies, the US administration is prioritizing crucial gaps in women's health, particularly post-menopausal conditions like arthritis and heart disease. This bold initiative encompasses directives spanning key departments, emphasizing the potential of artificial intelligence in advancing women's health research. Yet, despite its promise, the femtech industry often faces visibility challenges. As PR professionals, we play a vital role in amplifying the voices of femtech innovators and advocating for policies supporting women's health research. By leveraging our platforms, we can drive visibility, funding, and support for this critical sector. Investing in femtech isn't just about improving health outcomes—it's about empowering women, saving lives, and building a more equitable future for all. #Femtech #WomensHealth #PRCanSaveLives

We are at the Reproductive Health Innovation summit in Boston today in the middle of a snowstorm! The theme today is about access to fertility care and how technology and innovation can improve access through many facets. The keynote speaker Elizabeth Garner from Ferring Pharmaceuticals talked about barriers that exist among women of colour in the United States, who wait twice as long to seek care. Why is that? Answering these questions to create a more equitable environment for healthcare should occupy our thoughts. More than at any period in the last 40 years of reproductive medicine, it seems that smart and creative minds are finding solutions to these questions. Dr. Meivys Garcia and Dr Crystal Chan and I Mark Evans are here to participate and be part of this conversation. https://lnkd.in/def58D4y

This #WomensHistoryMonth, we celebrate a pivotal shift in health science: the inclusion of women in medical studies. 🌟 Before 1993, women were significantly underrepresented, leaving a gap in our understanding of women's health needs. The NIH Revitalization Act of 1993 marked a historical moment. It ensured women and minorities were included in clinical research, a move that has profoundly enriched medical knowledge and treatment strategies. https://lnkd.in/g_6f98xK. As a women's health company, we recognize the importance of this inclusion for developing targeted, effective healthcare solutions. By building on this legacy, we continue to advocate for research that addresses the unique health needs of all women, driving forward equity in healthcare. 💪 https://lnkd.in/gdxeG9-G #WomensHealth #WomensHistoryMonth #InclusiveResearch #palomahealth #hypothyroidism #hashimotos #thyroidcare #employerbenefits

Did You Know? 📢 For many years, #women have been underrepresented in medical trials, leading to treatments that are not always tailored to their needs. Only 4.5% of medical research budgets are allocated to studying women's health. Creating significant gaps in diagnosis and treatment exist. 💔 1 in 3 women will suffer from #heartdisease, yet women are seven times more likely to be misdiagnosed during a heart attack compared to men. Women have different symptoms! 🧠 Women are twice as likely to develop #Alzheimer's disease compared to men. ⚕️ The prevalence of #autoimmunediseases is higher in women, and diagnosis can take between 4 to 10 years! 🌸 #Menopause is characterized by tens of different symptoms. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve women's lives. As part of impact.51's initiative to raise awareness about #womenhealth, we have created a Women’s Health #EscapeRoom together with Quala Group which is currently showcased at the Ministry of Health. We aim to raise #awareness among women, medical teams, and policymakers. Our goal is to place women at the center of healthcare and integrate a gender perspective into medicine. The feedback we have received highlights the knowledge gap and the importance of women taking responsibility for their #health. It is equally important for medical teams, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to understand and tailor responses to the unique physiological needs of women. Women make up #51% of the population. Women are not "small men." A gender lens is required to adapt treatments and research to meet the unique needs of each woman. Women's health is not a niche – it is crucial and significant for everyone. Be part of the movement! Join us in #impacting women’s health! Try our escape room to learn more about the importance of women's health! Women’s health continues to be under-researched, under-funded and under-discussed. And the facts are under-whelming: 🔬 Women— and especially women of color— are underrepresented in clinical trials (which women weren’t even included in until 1993 🤯). 💵The conditions that affect women more than men receive less funding and attention. 🏥 As a result, women spend $15.4 billion more than men on out-of-pocket healthcare costs each year. (links in the comments for reference) I could spend an entire #WomensHealthWeek fuming about this reality. Instead, I will focus on the progress. Eva Epker cites PitchBook data in her Forbes piece: women’s health companies received 4.3% of the $26.5B VCs invested in generalist health and healthcare companies in 2023. Although this seems tiny, it is the largest percentage that women’s health companies have secured since 2018 and is 59% higher than in 2022. Biden’s Executive Order will further buoy this with $12 billion in new funding for women’s health research. Fertility and reproductive health continue to drive investment in this space, combined with greater attention on areas like menopausal health, pelvic health, endometriosis, and sexual and mental health. Vital work is being done, particularly in the women’s health tech market: ---Hera Biotech shared positive interim results for its non-surgical diagnostic test for endometriosis. ---Women-first tech developer Elvie released a report outlining the gaps in postpartum care in the U.S. --- Midi Health has raised $100M in funding for its virtual perimenopause and menopause care clinic. As communicators, we have an essential role in driving attention to the changemakers. What other women’s health tech companies are doing amazing things? #WomensHealth #Health #Healthtech #Biotech
