Just a pipe dream? The Plumbing, Heating and Home Services industry has it's work cut out if it's going to install 600,000 low carbon heat pumps every year by 2028. I spoke to Peter Holmwood, Managing Director of SES Home Services about how the industry will ramp up to achieve this - even despite a dire shortage of trained technicians. part of plumbing detailed refrigeration cycle diagram, featuring both low-stage and high-stage compressors in a two-stage refrigeration system. The system is designed for efficient cooling, typically used in industrial or commercial applications where very low temperatures are required. On the left, the process begins with the evaporator, where the refrigerant absorbs heat and evaporates, cooling the air or fluid around it. The refrigerant, now in a low-pressure gas state, moves into the low-stage compressor (1), where it is compressed, increasing its pressure and temperature. The oil separator connected to the compressor ensures that oil used in the system is removed from the refrigerant and returned to the compressor for lubrication. After compression, the refrigerant passes through a condenser-evaporator combination, where the heat is removed, and it condenses into a liquid. This dual-function heat exchanger allows efficient heat transfer between stages of the system. The bypass valve ensures that excessive pressure is avoided. From here, the refrigerant enters the high-stage compressor (2), where it undergoes further compression to achieve higher pressure and a higher temperature. This is followed by another oil separation process before the refrigerant reaches the final condenser (D), where it loses heat and condenses into a liquid, completing the cycle. The expansion tank and thermal expansion valves (TEV) regulate the flow and pressure of the refrigerant between different sections. This two-stage compression system is beneficial for maintaining very low temperatures while ensuring energy efficiency and preventing compressor overload. The oil separators in both stages help maintain the system's longevity by ensuring proper lubrication of moving parts. #plumbing #plumber #plumbinglife #plumbers #hvac #construction #heating #electrical #plumbersofinstagram #electrician #plumberslife #plumbingservices #contractor #bathroom #tools #waterheater #plumbingrepair #home #hvaclife #renovation #draincleaning #water #plumbingtools #worldplumbers #plumbingproblems #plumberlife #airconditioning #maintenance #tradesman #drainage

Manual J, Manual S, Automatic Savings: "That is why contractors should resist the urge to oversize heat pump systems, particularly in heating climates. “When did it become okay to oversize an air conditioner? If you said never, you were correct, because it never was acceptable. We've gone through this before — the bigger isn’t better thing — over and over and over … There's no free lunch. Either you're going to put in something that properly dehumidifies the space, or you're not.” Contractors who ignore that advice do so at their own peril, as this could lead to heat pumps getting a bad name again — similar to what happened several decades ago. This could undermine current efforts towards electrification, which are fueled by substantial financial incentives." Ed Janowiak in ACHR NEWS #HeatPumps #CleanEnergy #HVAC #ASHP

Found this gas-fired furnace installed in an attic about a year ago and it appeared to be a DIY install because there were numerous issues... improperly installed gas line, improperly installed sediment trap, improperly vented, improper condensate system, etc. Leave the installation of fossil fuel-fired HVAC equipment to the professional. #diyhvac #hvac #improperlyinstalledfurnace #homebuyer #homemaintenance #homes #homeowner #realestate #lancasterpa #homeinspection #safetyhazard #hvacinspection #atticinspection #handymanspecial #safetyhazard
