Want to land a job in the UAE or KSA? You simply need to read this post. So you’ve decided you’re ready to search for your next role in the UAE/KSA. Here’s what happens when you click APPLY. Let’s assume there are 1,000 applicants. You & the other 999 people who have applied all go through some sort of automated processing. This processing typically categorises you into 1/3 categories: - a fit - maybe a fit - not a fit Approx 5% of the applicants will be a fit for the role. If you’re a fit, you’ll likely be reviewed by a recruiter. The other 95% will never be reviewed. That means 50 people have been long-listed, 10% will be shortlisted + screened/invited to interview. This is how 1,000 becomes 5. This doesn’t provide a good candidate experience, but the way companies hire is dictated by market conditions. Know the process - it applies to everyone. You’ll see recruiters and hiring teams parroting the importance of the next 2 months for everyone who’s looking for a job in the region. (and for a VERY good reason) I’ve been keeping a close eye on how things have been progressing through the 1st week of Q4. There’s been a positive increase in: - roles being listed - interviews being scheduled - the speed of the hiring process This’ll be due to carry over until early December, where the job market will gradually slow down. You’ve pretty much got 2 whole months of fast paced hiring, be proactive, make the most of it. Simple productivity reminders: 1: apply on Monday-Thursday 2: apply between 8am-2pm GST 3: spend your weekends prepairing Remember, your job search should take 2-4 weeks.
