Want to land job interviews in the UAE & KSA? Stop restricting yourself. If you’re scrolling through job ads and overlooking openings that you’re “not qualified for”… You could be making a huge mistake. Don’t get me wrong, there are certain requirements that are set in stone, we’ll refer to these as CORE requirements. Core requirements are non-negotiable necessities, that without them, you’d be unable to deliver on the role. Then we’ve got the “nice to haves”, we’ll refer to these as SOFT requirements. Soft requirements are usually tightened up in job markets that become saturated, as the hiring team may aim to dissuade applicants that aren’t in the top 1-5% (on paper) from submitting an application. This is often down to things like unnecessary certs, level of formal education, years of experience, and unicorn industry/skillset blends… What does this mean? - if you can do the job, apply. - JD requirements are often inflated. - don’t be discouraged by arbitrary requirements. Getting a job offer in the UAE or KSA in Q1… Will it be a piece of cake? I ran into someone yesterday who’s been tuning into my posts - There was a bit of confusion about what to expect with running a job search going into the new year… He had the impression from my posts: - landing a job in Jan/Feb would be a piece of cake - power would shift from company to candidate - hiring teams would be falling at his feet - he’d be batting away interviews To clarify - Q1 WILL be the best time for hiring, recruitment, & landing a role in the region. More hires will be made in Jan and Feb than any other time of year… But this does NOT mean it’ll be an easy ride. View it like this: - if you’re currently landing interviews, x2 it. - if you’re seeing offers of 40k aed/pm, add 10%. - if avg interview:offer time is 6 weeks, cut it in half. There’ll be a large urgency from hiring teams to make the necessary hires, but this doesn’t mean that you’ll be sought after like a Golden Fleece. If you’re well positioned, you’ll see a large increase in traction - but you’ll still need to put the graft in. Remember, your job search should take 2-4 weeks. Sharing my one month experience of looking for a new JOB. I applied in many countries Like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain. I got shortlisted and got called for an interview from 25+ Companies. but none of them were an online interview even though they have mentioned in their job listing it can be online as well. Anyways after countless tries I gave some thought and Tried searching in my Home country. with in 10 days I gave 8 interviews and still going on and few interviews are going to happen in coming days.
