It was such a strange moment when you talked for 2 weeks about hazard prevention on BESS sites and why correct project implementation/construction is super important, and exactly 2h after the last meeting, you found an appropriate study to confirm it with real-world data. Idea on a graph below: Failures happen not due to errors during production or design but due to inadequate implementation and lack of operational training (>60%). Time is running out for submitting applications for production consent We would like to thank the 32 respondents who, since the production consent window opened on 1 July, have submitted around 92 of the 140 production consents we expect to receive. We urge the remainder to file their applications as quickly as possible. Consents set minimum and maximum production limits for each field and ensure, among other things, that reservoirs are appropriately managed and support the drive to net zero. The Annual Consents Exercise process ensures that fields and facilities have the necessary consents and supports the NSTA’s efforts to help operators meet regulatory and other obligations. Fields cannot continue production if they do not have the necessary consent and delays with submitting applications can result in delays with a consent being granted. In a recent incident at a production facility, the Soofie® continuous monitoring system demonstrated its effectiveness when a sight glass broke, resulting in a crude oil spill and the release of over 90 kg/hr of methane. The Soofie® promptly detected the anomaly and notified the operator via our Dashboard system and a text message alert. A field technician was dispatched, arriving at the site within 90 minutes and successfully containing the leak. In 2015 we installed a ClearWELL #EMF unit to protect a free water knock-out (FWKO) vessel from #calcite and #barite scale deposits. FWKOs are used in the early-stage processing of produced fluids to remove large amounts of water and can be very susceptible to scale. The plant is in Southern Alberta, a region well-known for its water production and scale challenges. ClearWELL’s unit has remained in continuous operation since it was installed around ten years ago, with regular health checks and remote monitoring delivering optimised performance. The operator has reported great efficiency gains, with less downtime required for routine plant turnarounds. This is a direct effect of maintaining a clean vessel and has also delivered savings on chemical operations and reduced the associated HSE risks.
