Supporting Vulnerable Communities: A Call to Action As I reflect on my recent visit to Christ Foundation Orphanage and Widows Outreach in Kuje, I am reminded of the immense need that exists in our communities. This orphanage, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, is a testament to the dedication of humanitarian workers and the resilience of those they serve. During my visit, I was struck by the faces of the widows and orphans, each with their own unique story and struggles. It's a sobering reminder that there is still much work to be done to support vulnerable populations. The humanitarian sector is facing significant challenges, including declining donations and stretched resources. It's imperative that we come together to support those in need. I urge you to consider the following: Donate to reputable organizations, like Christ Foundation Orphanage and Widows Outreach, to support their critical work. Partner with humanitarian organizations to amplify their impact. Advocate for policies and initiatives that support vulnerable communities. At Smiles Foundation, we take pride in our commitment to making a difference in the lives of refugee children. Through our successful projects, we strive to achieve our mission of bringing safety, support, and smiles to innocent refugee children who are suffering during times of war. 🎯 Our Projects 🎯 💙 Donation Drives: Smiles Foundation prefers hosting donation drives, which are tangible and non-monetary. Donation drives are held all year round, however, the biggest drives that collect the largest amount of necessities are held in the winter and summer. Each year, Smiles Foundation is able to pack around 30 large boxes with clothes, school supplies, and more. Boxes are distributed amongst various refugee communities. 💙 Teaching Children Refugees:  A physical and online (via Zoom) teaching program, where the Smiles team along with volunteers contribute to the teaching of refugee children. Through this program, Smiles Foundation teaches refugee children a range of essential topics, such as English, Maths, Science. Additionally, Smiles ensures to teach fun life skills all kids should learn, like soccer, chess, sewing, and much more. 💙Run For Refugees: A marathon run, previously held at compounds and schools in Saudi Arabia. Money is raised by selling tickets to participate in the marathon and drinks/snacks on the day. This initiative raised more than $5000. The money raised was used to purchase new school supplies, clothes, and toys to children refugees. 💙 The Smiles Foundation Blog:  A blog that is a part of the Smiles Foundation website, which is used to frequently update and educate people about the refugee crisis.
