Hello from Bahrain! This week, our very own Associate Dean and Executive Director of Global & Online Education, Carissa Little, along with Chief Education Solutions Officer, Dr. Chunmei (Mei) Zhao, attended the ITU Digital Skills Forum in Manama, Bahrain. In addition to their attendance, Dr. Zhao participated in the panel discussion, Digital skills for Jobs. The panel explored the impact of digital transformation on the global workforce, including the challenges and opportunities it presents. As the world becomes increasingly digitized, CGOE continues to be at the forefront of digital skills education. Dr. Zhao and her fellow panelists discussed strategies to equip individuals with the necessary skills to thrive in this new era.

Proficiency in ICT can increase employability and open up career opportunities in various fields. · Communication: ICT skills enable effective communication through email, instant messaging, video conferencing, and social media. · Access to information: The internet and other ICT resources provide access to a wealth of information and knowledge, which can be used for education, research, and staying informed about current events. · Education and learning: ICT skills are important for modern education, enabling e-learning, access to educational resources, and participation in online courses. They also support innovative teaching methods and collaborative learning. · Digital literacy: In a technology-driven world, digital literacy is essential for navigating the digital landscape safely and responsibly. This includes understanding online privacy, cybersecurity, and ethical use of technology. · Problem-Solving: ICT skills help in solving problems more efficiently by using various tools and resources.
