𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 🚀 In today’s world, digital skills are no longer optional—they’re essential. As technology reshapes industries, it’s critical we understand the future of jobs and proactively align our education systems to support this shift. This means creating a curriculum that equips students with digital fluency and adaptable skills to thrive in an evolving workforce. Achieving this transformation is not a one-entity task. It requires 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴—educational institutions, private companies, and policymakers—all coming together to build a collaborative ecosystem. By working hand-in-hand, we can ensure that every stakeholder, from students to educators to employers, is supported in this journey toward a digitally fluent society. At the ITU Regional Office, we’re actively seeking 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 to support these ambitious goals. I welcome donors interested in regional or cross-regional projects to connect with me directly and share their proposals. Together, we can drive sustainable growth and create a future where digital skills open doors for all. Let’s drive this collaboration to equip our talent for the future. Investing in digital skills today is investing in the workforce of tomorrow. 🌐 #DigitalSkills #FutureOfWork #EducationTransformation #Partnerships #TechEducation #EdTech #SkillDevelopment #FutureJobs

In many of my conversations on digital skills, people focus on advanced skills needed for tech jobs. However, without an active user base that have #basic #digital #skills, a thriving local digital ecosystem will not take off. To help governments and others achieve ambitious basic digital skills targets set out in the #UN Global Digital Compact, by the G20, or national digital policies for example, we developed a policy brief with recommendations and learnings on advancing digital skills for all. The lack of basic digital skills is a top barrier for mobile internet adoption and addressing this challenge is as essential as developing advanced skills needed for the job market. Such basic skills not only help non-tech entrepreneurs improve their business success using mobile, it also helps ensure everyone can benefit from the internet in a safe and responsible manner. #digitaldivide #digitalskills #GDC #publicpolicy #policybriefing Anne Shannon Baxter, Claire Sterngold

Unlocking opportunities in the digital era through affordable smart devices remains a challenge across SSA. In South Africa, for instance, smartphones have been classified and are regarded as luxury goods, and hence, the high tax levied on them 🇿🇦 Further, it is important to note that smartphone penetration remains a key barrier to adoption. As the GSMA Africa Policy team, in 2025, we will be commissioning what is to be titled the Smartphone Affordability Study in South Africa NB: Be on the lookout for the Kenya and Zambia studies that are nearing their completion and will soon be published 🇰🇪 🇿🇲 #Leave No One Behind # Everyone is Represented. Empowering Students with Digital Skills! 🚀 The global labour market is currently experiencing profound changes due to #digitalisation, leading to increased demand for digital skilled employees, particularly affecting young university graduates. However, young graduates, especially in #Asia, face various challenges, such as a digital skill gap, lack of practical, job-relevant skills and a gender gap with young women in Asia-Pacific being three times more likely to ‘Not in Education, Employment, or Training’ (NEET) than young men, exacerbated by inadequate digital skills training. To address these challenges, there is a critical need to bridge the skill gap and reduce the digital divide by providing targeted education focusing on job-relevant skills and awareness for a responsible technology use. The regional development cooperation project ‘Digital Skills to Succeed in Asia (DS2S)’ aims to tackle these challenges by equipping young graduates in #Bangladesh, #India, and #Vietnam with vital digital skills and ethical technology use. We invite you to follow their newly created LinkedIn page to not miss any updates. Come on a digital journey with us! 🎓
🚀 Digital Skills to Succeed! 🌐 In today's fast-paced digital world, the World Economic Forum highlights a crucial fact: 54% of the global workforce needs digital skills to meet industry demands. In #Asia, 92% of young graduates in Bangladesh, 66.3% in India, and 70% in VietNam lack essential digital skills, leaving many unprepared for the rapidly changing job market. To address this issue, we are excited to introduce the Digital Skills to Succeed in Asia (DS2S) project, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Our mission: empower young university students in #Bangladesh, #India, and #VietNam with practical, job-relevant digital skills and ethical awareness for responsible technology use. Here's how we are making an impact: 🌐 Digital Skills Network & Country Hubs: Creating platforms for lateral learning and best practice exchanges among universities and private sector partners. 🏅 Faculty Enhancement: Equipping educators with cutting-edge digital competencies and innovative teaching methods. 📚 Short Courses & Micro-Credentials: Offering globally recognised, challenge-based courses in artificial intelligence (#AI), #Data, and #DigitalEntrepreneurship, designed in collaboration with German universities and private sector partners. Together with universities, private sector partners, research institutes, and government agencies, we are fostering a brighter future for young professionals in the digital era. Join us in supporting the next generation of digital leaders! 💪🌏🌟 Ready to bridge the #digitaldivide? Connect with us and be part of the change!
