Trust fund baby. A term that we all know, and sums up the majority of our believes that trusts are for the ultra wealthy. I not only speak to clients, but my own family and friends about the concept of a trust and it is a foreign term to them. So many people think they will need a will, because having a will has been used so often in film that we all understand that. A trust is a your own safe. A safe that you draft and store all your assets in during your life and create the rules and controls of that safe. Decide who receives what and when, who can open it, etc. California has a probate that will cost your family time and money. It will take many months if not years to go through. It will also cost your loved ones many thousands of dollars. The truth is, you have a plan for when you become incapacitated or pass away, you just didn't write it, the state did. Don't fall into the trap of believing a will is all you need, and a trust is for the trust fund baby's. #estateplanning #trusts #guardians #wills #family #probate
