Graduation of an Elementary ( Nursery and Primary) School in a locality in Molyko in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon. I was honored to participate in encouraging and supporting the children who are at a critical early stage of their learning and career development process. Children possess lots of diverse talents that stakeholders including parents, teachers, administrators, funders, communities and policymakers should overcome the challenges undermining previous relentless efforts. I. e., our previous points of little success and big weakness should be the bases for us to continue burning the resource candles in order to ignite the talents based on, for and led by the learners or trainees. The learners or trainees today are not just a buffer for future employment and employees and leadership but also a present source of workers- and leaders-in-training. Hence, learning and practice and leading do not only go together but also are symbiotically lifelong.

Between 2018 and 2020, I had the privilege of participating in a captivating global project: "Inner Work for Social Change," led by the Synergos Institute and the Fetzer Institute. The premise was that leaders and organizations nurturing their inner world become more effective agents of change. Therefore, to consistently produce changes in the external world, it's crucial to be aware of our internal landscape and align our energies, knowledge, and visions cohesively. An extraordinary group of change agents from around the world convened to test this hypothesis, evaluating experiences of high social impact and the role of inner work in their leadership. I conducted a study on the Pará Education Pact, spearheaded by Wanda Engel Aduan. From 2012 to 2015, the pact aimed to forge partnerships across various sectors of society (state government, municipal authorities, businesses, administrators, civil society, educators, parents, and students) to enhance the quality of public education in the state. It was an absolute privilege to host The MTPT Project's fifth roundtable event this week. We gathered stakeholders from across different organisations, schools, MATs, the DfE, unions, researchers and systems leaders to share our 12 month plans to make teaching a more sustainable career choice. As a group, we are acutely aware of the damaging attrition rates of women aged 30-39 who leave the profession in huge numbers every year. Rather than continue to expend energy and investment pouring coffee into the metaphorical cup, though, we want to fix the leak, and fix it properly so that it can sustain the beautiful, but many challenges that teaching can throw at us. Again and again, we hear that these changes need to come from the top: we can't leave it down to colleagues taking and returning from a period of parental leave to take on yet another load. It is for this reason that we deliver our Life Friendly Leadership programme: a five session virtual programme that supports school, MAT and systems leaders to bring about very concrete cultural change in their schools. Why? To retain quality and experienced staff members. To support the professional health and wellbeing of these quality and experienced staff members. So that they can get on and do the job of securing student outcomes, teaching and leading in our schools... ... without this conflicting with their own families. When starting a new international school, there is one thing you need to do. Don't die! 😅 I started my international teaching career back in 2004 at BISS Pudong. 🌍🏫 We faced 100's of problems. Unfinished building work 🚧, staff leaving unannounced 👥, and 700 new students arriving in the first year. 🎒 The team pulled together and overcame these problems. Nord Anglia was Born! Starting a new international school is not about creating an exceptional institution from day one. It's about survival and laying a strong foundation. In the beginning, resources are limited. The focus should be on the essential elements: Securing a good location 📍, hiring passionate teachers 👩🏫, and establishing a curriculum that meets local and international standards. 📚 The goal is to create a stable environment for students and staff. Luxuries like grand facilities or high-end technology can come later. 🏰💻 Every decision should contribute to the school's stability and growth. 📈 Mistakes will happen, but we must learn and adapt quickly. 🔄 Survival means managing resources wisely, ensuring a strong fit with the educational market, and building a dedicated team aligned with our vision. This is about taking calculated risks and staying flexible.
