Based on our Startup Heatmap List, which tracks Europe ‘s best accelerator programs and their portfolios. Munich and Berlin both had 33 startups participate in top programs in 2023. Here are some key insights: 📈 Swedish startups collectively boast a valuation of 239 billion euros 💼 Contributing to 138,000 jobs worldwide, with 79,000 jobs in Sweden alone 💰 Witnessed a phenomenal doubling in value over the past five years 💡 Impact startups are the driving force, securing 74% of total investments. 🦄 Sweden boasts 41 unicorn startups 🌟 Sverige ranks fourth in Europe for innovation ecosystems, trailing only behind the UK, France, and Germany. 🔝 Sweden tops the charts for investment per capita among European ecosystems. Ten promising startups have been selected to compete in the African final of the Latitude59 competition. The winner of this regional final will earn the opportunity to pitch at the main event in Tallinn, Estonia, vying for a prize pool of €1 million (US$1.1 million). The 12th edition of Latitude59, Estonia’s premier startup and tech event, took place in Tallinn in May, drawing over 3,500 attendees, including more than 900 startup representatives and nearly 600 investors. Last month, Innovation Village reported that Latitude59 was on the lookout for early-stage startups from across Africa to compete for a chance to pitch at the next edition of its competition. For the past two years, the prize pool for the Latitude59 pitch competition has been set at €1 million (US$1.1 million). 📊🇩🇪 Berlin remains German Startup Capital! 🚀   🌐Insights into Germany's Startup Landscape: Ernst & Young's Startup Barometer for 2023 unveils key trends in German startups. Despite a 39% dip in total investments compared to 2022, amounting to 2.4 billion euros, Berlin maintains its lead with a 39% market share.   🤖 Yet, the AI sector, flourishing notably in Berlin-Brandenburg, saw a significant surge in investments across Germany, reaching 943 million euros. AI emerges as the frontrunner in total investment volume, signaling promising prospects for the software sector.   With 468 new startups emerging in Berlin alone last year, the city retains its position as the top business location in Germany, edging out Munich to second place.
