Venture for Fund Raising Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ‘teach the joy of giving’. We began operations in March 1999, during a period when the Philippine economy was beset with challenges resulting from the weakening of the world and Asian economies. During this time, international organizations and funding agencies, still influenced by the post-EDSA spirit, continued to support initiatives that empowered the marginalized communities in the country. However, with resources dedicated to the Philippines dwindling, it was clear that in due time, Filipinos needed to learn to help themselves and each other. Hence Venture was established. Today, through our training, mentoring, research, and public information programs, we work to influence the ‘givers’ to give more ‘deliberately’ and strategically so they can support their chosen causes and communities with greater impact; and we enable the ‘askers’ by equipping them with the essential skills, systems and processes to effectively generate resources to fulfill their missions. Through this photo I wish to explain to you the meaning of Philantropreneur. Yesterday I had an opportunity to meet Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala. He is the executive director of Wockhardt Ltd. He also serves as the trustee and CEO of wockhardt foundation. I learnt that a Philanthropreneur, is a combination of entrepreneur and Philanthropy. Philanthropreneurship is the development of the Philanthropist's role and the integration of business practices. The core objective of Philanthropreneurship is to increase the Philanthropic impact of non-profit organizations through the use of corporations. Traditionally, non-profit organizations solely depended on donations, grants, or other forms of charitable giving. Philanthropreneurship differs by investing rather than donating; there is an expectation of financial profit on top of the social profit traditionally associated with non-profit organizations. Philanthropreneurs aim to achieve social change that is supposed to be both profitable and sustainable. Kohmorehbee is an earnest effort to build an institution supporting the social development space in India. After a decade in this space as individuals, we truly felt that those who wanted to work with grassroots - funders and civil society - need a lot more support than what is available today.   Over the past year, Kohmorehbee expanded its reach on both sides of the table and supported the fundraising and capacity-building efforts of both non-profits and philanthropic foundations. We were able to facilitate ~INR 12.5 crores (USD 1.5 million) in domestic funding. As a young organisation, this year was instrumental in helping us understand gaps in the sector and in doing so, we found a deep sense of purpose and confidence in knowing we can help bridge them.   As we look ahead, we’re committed to focusing on underfunded causes, curating knowledge, and making it accessible to help reimagine resource mobilisation.
