Sustainable Throwback Thursday Since Thursdays are for throwbacks, let's throwback to 1987, when the Brundtland Report, "Our Common Future," introduced the concept of sustainability to the world and gave the most accepted definition to #sustainability as "the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." Fast forward to today, the principles outlined in the Brundtland Report have laid the foundation for the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. These 17 goals serve as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. SDGs FOR AFRICA In advance of the UN Summit of the Future, Earth4All has released a new report detailing two possible futures for Sub-Saharan Africa this century. The report, “SDGs for All: Africa,” uses Earth4All’s state-of-the-art system dynamics model to chart possible pathways for SDG implementation in the region. Written in collaboration with notable African sustainability experts, the report emphasises the scale and urgency of economic transformation needed to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region. https://lnkd.in/e4pF7tBD
