Toys for Tots drive was a success! We saw donations made from all three of our manufacturing facilities and the corporate office to help our community out during the Toys for Tots drive. In total we were able to donate over $1,100 worth of toys for families in need during this holiday season. We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has donated. The generosity and compassion from Steel King's employees are truly inspiring, and because of their support, we continue to make a positive impact in the communities we serve. Our 1st shift production supervisor from our Rome, GA facility, Dimitrios LaLiveres happily volunteered himself as scale to show off the incredible size of the toy haul!

Charity—whether through money, food, clothing, or toys—is a vital practice that we should make a regular part of our lives. In Islam, even a simple smile is considered an act of charity.
It’s inspiring to see people dedicate their time and effort to something spiritually enriching while supporting those in need. Here are some key takeaways about charity and its significance in Islam.
Charity helps alleviate poverty, reduce inequality, and strengthen bonds within the community, fostering a sense of mutual care and responsibility.
Islam emphasizes that acts of charity, big or small, are significant in the eyes of Allah, as I said above even a smile can count as charity.
In fact , Zakat(charity) is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, requiring Muslims to give a fixed percentage (usually 2.5%) of their wealth annually to help the needy, support social welfare, and promote economic balance.
Charity is considered a way to purify one’s wealth and soul, reduce greed, and earn Allah’s blessings and forgiveness. The Qur’an and Hadith frequently promise immense rewards for those who give generously.
Ultimately, charity benefits both the giver and the receiver, serving as a powerful means to foster a more just, fair, and compassionate society.

With Christmas fast approaching, I felt inspired to give back to the community in a meaningful way. I therefore personally took the lead in organising Christmas pamper boxes for women and children in refuge at Pennine Domestic Abuse Partnership (PDAP).
This involved planning, coordinating donations, and working closely with Deborah from PDAP to ensure we could make a real impact for their clients in need. Our Family Department already work very closely with PDAP who are a key provider of domestic abuse services in Kirklees so it was incredibly rewarding to hear how much this will mean to the families at the refuge.
Also, many thanks to the two offices that donated, we successfully gathered enough donations to fill four boxes!

Crisis, such as the tragic fires in and around Ruidoso, reveal the character of people and businesses. Such as the extreme leadership of MATI’s Godfrey Enjady working tirelessly with friends, such as PVT’s James Meyers, to restore vital communications within and outside of their own service areas. Or the local businesses working together to meet the needs of those impacted. Local businesses matter and will be there when needed.
I so appreciate the efforts of PVT’s employees organizing this effort to bring supplies to those in need. Chris & Tabitha Davis , Cassie Florez , Daniel Rodriguez, SHRM-CP and Ross Horner.
PVT would like to thank people in our communities for dropping off donations, and special thanks to Oasis Christian Fellowship in Carlsbad. Last night, PVT employees delivered the first truckload to the Mescalero Community Center. Two more truckloads to follow.
It's not sexy.
For lots of volunteer committees it can feel like a burden.
For many starting out in the world of volunteer governance it can be quite frightening and overwhelming.
But good governance is so important to ensure the sustainable future of our toy libraries.
It has been super exciting to see all the toy libraries who have pulled on their big kid pants and sorted out their ACNC registration, the passion of our toy library community should never be underestimated.
I am super proud to work for a peak body who provides practical support to enable volunteers to develop their understanding and mastery of good governance.
If we want to bring more good people into the board rooms of Australia maybe we should all be looking to invest more in the good people who are already delivering on good governance right now in volunteer roles right across the country?
Good governance is key to helping toy libraries thrive. We're excited to share that over 85 toy libraries are now registered as charities, thanks to our work with the ACNC. This means they’re better equipped to serve their communities, attract support, and continue bringing joy to families. Strong governance isn’t just about rules—it’s about making a bigger impact together.
A special thank you to our Victoria Member Development Officer, Erin Krusic-Golub, for her incredible work in guiding the latest round of registrations.

In business or nonprofit marketing, it’s tempting to focus solely on calls to action: “Volunteer!” “Donate!” “Buy tickets!” “Sign up!” While these are important, at the Museum, we’re shifting our approach—creating content that fosters trust and genuine connection, rather than just demanding action.
Thank you to everyone who donated to our drive for Greer Relief & Resources Agency! 💙 We love helping our friends and neighbors, and your donations will go a long way to helping those in need.
I just made a donation to the Muskegon SafERteens Youth & Gun Violence Prevention Program as a thank you to Claudine Weber and her team’s ongoing work to make the program sustainable.

Besides this being an amazing story; one that deserved its own post, there was talk of (at least) five other projects that will tell the story of rural perseverance and community excellence in Humboldt.
And I have nowhere to tell these stories.
What will it take for people to invest in rural content again? Because that is what it is; an investment of time and resources into ensuring these stories get told. I've heard over and over again in the past two years that there's no money for freelancing, but how else are organizations creating a strong news stream for their communities?
We need more local content.
For the first time in a while I attended the Good Neighbour Store's Distribution Day here in Humboldt.
For the past 32 years, the thrift store takes what they've made from a year of reselling gently used clothing and household items and distributes it to non-profit organizations throughout the Humboldt area. Today, 61 organizations received a collective $463,000, bringing the total amount of donations given over the past three decades to $5 million. As of this year, two organizations have now received over a million dollars each from GNS, a worthy milestone for amazing organizations. Many people spoke about GNS's humble beginnings and how far they've come.
Congratulations to the Good Neighbour Store and all their volunteers.
