The Baumann Group at University College Dublin, in partnership with Almac Group (Almac Sciences), have utilised photo-click chemistry, a relatively underdeveloped field of synthesis, to form structurally diverse nitrogen-rich scaffolds that are relevant to the pharmaceutical industry. The use of the Vapourtec UV-150 photochemical reactor allowed: ☑️ Fine control over photochemical reaction conditions; ☑️ Facile chromoselectivity; ☑️ Ready access to UVC light This work allowed ready access to benzoxazines, benzoxazocines, tricyclic pyrazoles and benzotriazepines, which are usually challenging scaffolds to prepare and could provide new avenues for exploration within drug discovery. 🧠 Here are my top 3 takeaways of the Vonlanthen Group of Companies #PFS Conference, : 💉 Pharmaceutical Development Interface: Polysorbate degradation and particle formation continue to pose significant challenges across the industry. Addressing these issues typically requires optimizing downstream processes to mitigate risks effectively. (Px188 + silicone oil free PFSs seem to be not a real alternative) 🌱 Sustainability: Reusable autoinjectors like the Phillips-Medisize Aria deserve more recognition for their potential impact on sustainability.
