From my experience working with several individuals and recruiting people and leaders the best is to hire a person who you can trust and can trust others so a strong team relationships is built to thrive and grow. This trio model of leadership Model-Trust- Inspire is brilliatly articulated in his book “Trust & Inspire” by author Stephen M. R. Covey who nailed it. The uniqueness of this book is not only how well it is written but how impactful its ideas and stories that can span almost all aspects of relationships from home to work to school to even schools and sports. To me it was also very relevant to teaching and mentoring in medical education and research. From command and control to trust and inspire a revolution of learning how to build relationships what is an amazing book.

In the course of my education at Brigham Young University, I am currently enrolled in a Business Development program where my team and I are tasked with managing a company comprising Research & Development, Marketing, Production, and Finance departments. In our pursuit to elevate the company to new heights in all these departments, it became evident that managerial training was essential. Following guidance, I enrolled in the Harvard Manager Mentor Course through BYU-I, where I gained valuable insights. Throughout the course (HARVARD ManageMentor), I delved into Profitability Ratios, which serve as crucial metrics for assessing a company's profitability. These ratios, expressing sales and profits as a percentage of various factors, proved instrumental in understanding our company's financial health. Additionally, I learned about the significance of different budget types, including operating, cash, and capital budgets, each serving distinct purposes in financial planning and management. A pivotal lesson from the course emphasized the importance of fostering team financial intelligence. By equipping team members with the knowledge to comprehend the financial implications of their work, we can collectively steer the company toward success. Reflecting on my past experiences with various companies, I could discern the root causes of issues encountered, often stemming from a lack of financial acumen among team members. Armed with this newfound knowledge, I am poised to make a substantial positive impact in my future endeavors. I keep on learning ..........

Heroic leadership is exhausting and unsustainable. It creates a fragile system where your team are overly reliant on you and ideas are trapped in people’s heads. Find champions who will motivate and inspire others. Give people the trust and autonomy to try new ideas without layers of bureaucracy. Create a culture where it is safe to try, fail and try again without judgement or blame. A true leader is able to create a team so successful that it can largely function without them. This is a must read. Very easy to absorb and apply. Highly recommend ☺️ #leadership #trust #safetofail #positiveworkplaceculture #autonomy #sustainableleadership #blamefreeculture Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust NHS England

Absolutely agree Arnna Graham —differentiation is often misunderstood and oversimplified. As leaders, we need to approach it in a way that empowers and elevates everyone in our team, recognising their unique strengths and challenges. True differentiation in leadership means supporting each team member in their journey, meeting them where they are, and providing the tools they need to succeed. It’s not about creating different standards, but about creating equitable pathways so everyone can reach the same goals. Leaders who differentiate for their employees foster an environment of growth, belonging, reflection, and innovation. They model flexibility, empathy, and strategic thinking—ensuring that every team member feels valued and has the opportunity to excel. Let’s shift the narrative and focus on equity rather than just levels or groups. It’s about building the capabilities of individuals while maintaining high expectations for all. How do you differentiate for your team to help them thrive? #Leadership #Differentiation #EquityInLeadership #TeamSuccess #InclusiveLeadership
Leaders Differentiate Differentiation is THE word of education that we all hear about,. We throw it around as valuable, and it is. It is important, however it is probably the most difficult education concept to actually understand, define, implement, measure, teach and explain. Every inspection, classroom observation and tool that measures impact looks for differentiation. But what is it? Can you define it? And then what does it look like as leader as you lead your team? Do you model it? In short, differentiation is about meeting needs, navigating different pathways to the same end point. Differentiation is an education label or synonym for equity. Equity is about getting to the same end point. This is the part that we have missed. Along the way, as we over-simplified things, and tried to make sense of an incredibly difficult concept, it became about putting people in to groups and giving different people different levelled tasks, and sadly, having different expectations of different people. There is a different way of thinking we could bring to this. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dBMWvu3q

Leadership is more than just a buzzword—it’s essential for anyone in healthcare, including dentists. While studying leadership theories like Maslow's Hierarchy and Herzberg's Motivation-Hygiene Theory, I realized these aren’t just abstract concepts. They offer practical insights into motivating teams, understanding patient needs, and driving personal growth.
