Every Blip on the Radar Matters..... Today is Giving Tuesday, and I want to share why I work with Avalon Action Alliance and why this mission matters so deeply to me. I’m not here to turn fellow veterans into victims or feed/target the "veteran industry", I’m here for impact. To drive meaningful change, coordinate efforts…. and above all help the team get veterans and first responders, that are in need, back in the fight—living with strength, purpose, and the ability to bounce back. Every dollar donated, even just one, is a blip on the radar—a powerful message that you believe in what we’re doing. That you stand with us in saying that me and my fellow veterans deserve more than a system that commodifies our challenges. Our community needs real care, real opportunities, and a real path to thriving. We’re not about numbers; we’re about lives. About creating lasting, tangible impact for those who have sacrificed so much. Every donation, every share, every voice proves that we’re on the right path. So today, I’m asking you: Stand with us. With every veteran and first responder who needs to know their service and sacrifices were not in vain and they are welcomed back into the communities they fought for. Join me in making today a #DayOfImpact. Together, we can heal, rebuild, and empower. https://lnkd.in/e8CaXUds #ThankYou #Grateful #GivingTuesday #WeCantDoThisWithoutYou #StandWithVeterans#AvalonActionAlliance #veterans, #SOF #GreenBeret #community #army #navy #spaceforce #airforce #marines #firefighters #police #firstresponders #coastguard #TBI # PTS #PTSD #SOBERLIVING #thrive #leadership #pmp #projectmanagement #mentalhealth #TransformLives

Today we highlight another great speaker for our upcoming Inaugural Summit on Subconcussive Trauma and Brain Health May 16–17, Tampa, FL The Honorable Jarrid “Jay” Collins, Florida State Senator, District 14. Senator Collins is a highly-decorated Army Special Forces combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient with over two decades of service. As a husband, father, Green Beret, and non-profit leader with over 20 years of dedicated service, Senator Collins has seen firsthand that “leadership comes at a cost, and that cost is self-interest.” He knows that while career politicians are focused on pursuing their own ambitions, real leaders put their personal concerns last, finding real solutions to the problems facing the American people. Reflecting on Remembrance Day Today is a day that carries a profound significance, particularly for those of us who have served. As an ex-service member, Remembrance Day isn’t simply a date on the calendar; it’s a solemn reminder of friends, shared hardships, and the true weight of service. It’s a day to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice, who went where others could not, and to remember the families who bore their own sacrifices at home. Service instils values that never fade—courage, loyalty, resilience. These aren’t just words; they’re principles we carry with us long after we’ve hung up the uniform. For me, Remembrance Day is about embodying those values and paying tribute to the lessons we learned alongside our comrades. It’s about striving to be worthy of the sacrifices made by so many before us and those still serving today. As we pause to reflect, I encourage everyone to take a moment to recognise the commitment and service of others, whether in uniform or in their communities. Let’s remember, let’s learn, and let’s carry forward the ideals that unite us. #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget #HonouringService #UKVeterans

🎖️ Honoring Promises: A Veteran's Reflection 🇺🇸 As a former public school teacher, I often found myself fielding questions from my students about my military service. One particular day stands out vividly in my memory. During a discussion about transitions to civilian life and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, many of my students expressed admiration for the Hollywood version of military service—glamorizing the idea of getting hurt in the army and going to war. However, one comment made by a student left a lasting impression on me. "But Mr. Soldat," they said, not in jest, "you get free meals at Golden Corral, that's awesome! I'd be happy to be disabled if I got that." 🤦♂️ While I couldn't help but find the comment somewhat comical, it underscored a deeper issue. It highlighted how veterans, especially those with less visible wounds, are often perceived and the disconnect between perception and reality. To many, the benefits earned through sacrifice are seen as some form of elite entitlement. It's challenging for some to grasp the struggles of veterans because military service, by design, is hidden away behind gates and in faraway countries. Thanks to Hollywood, military service is seen as glamorous, with the promise of perks like free meals or discounts. But what these perceptions fail to capture are the struggles faced by veterans and their families. Many do not even consider the families' struggles—the phone calls interrupted by indirect fire, the agonizing wait at home wondering if your loved one will return, and the constant worry about what side effects might emerge next. It's standing by during doctor appointments, waiting anxiously for scan results, and the endless battles with bureaucracy to obtain VA benefits. And amidst it all, there are the financial worries, strained relationships, and toll on mental health. Reflecting on this, I'm reminded of the ongoing fight to restore programs like the Virginia Military Survivors & Dependents Education Program (VMSDEP). For some, it may seem akin to another Golden Corral treat—but it's not. It's a promise made to us, a promise we in turn make to our families. Let's remember that behind every benefit earned through service lies a story of sacrifice, resilience, and dedication. It's crucial that we honor these promises and continue to support those who have served and their families. #Veterans 🎗️ #MilitaryService 🪖 #VMSDEP 🎓 #HonoringPromises 🤝 #Reflection 💭 #SupportOurTroops 🇺🇸 #VeteranBenefits 💼 #GoldenCorral 🍽️ #SacrificeAndService 🌟 #Resilience 💪 #Dedication 🙌 #MilitaryFamilies ❤️ #HiddenStruggles 🕵️♂️

WE DID IT! H.R. 8371 passed the House, and let me tell you—this is not just a win; it’s a REVOLUTION for veterans, their families, and caregivers everywhere. For over a year, my fellow Elizabeth Dole Foundation Fellows and staff have been in the trenches fighting for this moment. We’ve poured our stories, our pain, and our unrelenting hope into every letter, every meeting, every single ounce of advocacy we could muster. This wasn’t luck. It wasn’t easy. It was us—standing up, speaking out, and refusing to let anyone ignore the reality of caregiving. We took the system head-on and said, “You will listen.” And yesterday, they did. I’m not just proud—I’m fired up. We fought through exhaustion, frustration, and the endless grind of trying to explain why caregivers matter. We didn’t just ask for change; we demanded it. And guess what? They couldn’t say no. But this is only the beginning. We’re charging straight into the Senate with the same energy, the same fire, and the same refusal to quit. Because when you’re fighting for families, for the invisible army holding up our veterans, quitting isn’t an option. To my EDF family: We are the proof that stories move mountains. That persistence shatters walls. That people like us—the ones who refuse to back down—are unstoppable. One step closer. LET’S GO! #HR8371 #DoleAct #MilitaryCaregivers #HiddenHeroes #Senate
