How much time does the ALJ really spend reviewing Social security cases? If you assume that they do a minimum quota of 500 cases per year and farther assume there are 2000 working hours per year then AJ have four hours per case. This includes the hearing reading all the medical evidence Ryan the decision and administrative task like following up on obtaining medical records, or requesting vocational or medical interrogatories and proffering them to the attorney.

🎄 Day 12 - May or Must 🎄 'May' and 'Must'. Two small words with very big differences. But why is this important in investigations and enforcement work? Think about when you are drafting a notice for example. If you write that someone ‘may’ do something, this means that it is discretionary. However, if you write that someone ‘must’ do something, then this is an obligation. The use of ‘may’ could make the notice very difficult to enforce as how do you demonstrate non-compliance? This will also apply to policies, procedures and strategies. If you write ‘may’ then this means that the individual or organisation can do something if it chooses. If you write ‘must’ this means that the individual or organisation has to do something, whether they want to or not. I talk about this more in our ‘Community Protection Notice’ CPD accredited course. When drafting a notice, it’s really important that we get the ‘may’ and ‘must’ the right way round. For example, enforcement action ‘may’ be taken if the notice is not complied with or works in default ‘may’ be undertaken if X requirement isn’t done. This ensures that decisions surrounding proportionality can be considered and doesn’t place an obligation on the local authority to do something in every circumstance. ‘May’ and ‘must’. Two little words with very different meanings, and very different consequences. Remember, wording matters! Need some help with your policies, procedures or strategies relating to criminal investigations and enforcement? Really interesting review on how we manage, across agencies, the risks posed by DA to children and how we could think about this differently. The lack of any critically reviewed and universal DA risk assessment tool, other than DASH and DARA is a significant factor. And, until the inspectorates views on contact v. referrals aligns, we are stuck in the loop of referrals which do not meet threshold, although there is such a differing consensus of opinion into what this looks like in practice.

The Saif Ali Khan Incident: A Call to Action on Security and Legal Awareness The recent assault on Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, which left him seriously injured, has sent shockwaves through the public. The incident involved an intruder unlawfully entering his residence, shining a spotlight on the critical need to understand laws surrounding trespassing and the right to self-defense which are essential legal tools for ensuring personal safety. Under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, trespassing is not merely illegal entry; it constitutes a severe breach of privacy and personal security. Sections 329 and 334 of the BNS outline strict penalties for those who invade another person’s property without permission. Saif Ali Khan’s recent ordeal highlights how vital these provisions are in safeguarding individuals and their homes. The BNS 2023 also empowers individuals with the right to private defense, enabling them to protect themselves and their loved ones from imminent threats. However, during exercising self-defense it’s crucial to note that any force used in self-defense must remain proportional to the danger faced, as excessive use of force can lead to legal consequences. This alarming incident serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of understanding these rights, duties and responsibly exercising them during emergencies. Thereby : • Take proactive steps to enhance our personal security. • Educate ourselves and others about legal rights, especially regarding the proportional use of force in self-defense. • Foster discussions to promote awareness of community safety and self-protection strategies. • Advocate for promotion of learning self-defense techniques to protect yourself and your loved ones. Staying informed and vigilant is no longer optional—it is an essential step toward protecting ourselves and ensuring our collective safety. #UnsaifAliKhan
