The Oklahoma City Council approved a zoning change allowing a developer to build what is planned to be a 1,907-ft tower—and North America's tallest structure—in a mixed-use development. The rezoning, which passed by an 8-to-1 vote, removes the height restriction originally placed on the site. Further approvals from the council will be needed as the plan moves ahead. The project as currently envisioned consists of a base with three mid-rise towers and a fourth, the Legends Tower, that if built would set a height record for the U.S. and North America. The group leading the Interstate Bridge replacement project released a document that offers insights into how a new I-5 bridge between Oregon and Washington would change travel in the region. Select highlights from the analysis show tolling of the bridge is not expected to cause significant diversion to the Glenn Jackson Bridge, some areas of the Fort Vancouver site could be affected by the construction, and travel times during rush hour should improve if the bridge is built. The existing site had previously received approval for a primary and secondary dwelling under the prior city plan. The objective was to extend this approval and enhance its value through a minor change application. The client decided to relocate an existing Queensland-style dwelling, approximately 280m², to the front of the rural acreage property. Additionally, they planned to design a new primary dwelling, approximately 480m², on the hilltop overlooking a valley, while also securing approval for a large shed. Given that the new city plan restricts secondary dwellings to a maximum gross floor area of 80m², and we had an approval of 280m², it was crucial to maintain the current approval. This is vital for the client's financial strategy, which involves renting both dwellings. _______________________________________________________________________ Project Manager - IMPACT DESIGN Planner - @CoastTownPlanning Building Certifier - @platinumbuildingapprovals Structural Engineers - @ProjectsAndDesignsEngineers Hydraulic Engineers - @smithhydraulicdesign Effluent Design - @countrywidewater Bushfire - @EldonBotcherArchitect Geotechnical Engineer - @geotechinvestigations Interiors - IMPACT DESIGN _____________________________________________ ▪️ #impactbuildingdesign #impactdesign ▪️

The University of South Florida has started the process of selecting a new construction company to build the Bulls’ on-campus football stadium — with, perhaps, a slightly faster timeline. The Bulls posted a document soliciting bids, allowing construction management companies to submit proposals for the 35,000-seat, $340 million stadium. USF has been working with the architecture firm Populous to design the project. Read the article on Tampa Bay Times at https://lnkd.in/eXT6gnu6. Structural design is the core of our business. Understanding the structural elements that form the backbone of buildings and bridges is key to successful construction. Have you ever wondered about the differences between I-beams and I-section girders? While both are essential, they play distinct roles in supporting structures. From residential buildings to massive infrastructure like bridges, these components are critical in handling heavy loads and distributing weight effectively. Choosing between them depends on factors like project size, load requirements, and design needs. Read more on the pros and cons of each and how they influence modern construction: https://lnkd.in/dHrQAgyJ #StructuralEngineering #ConstructionEssentials #IBeamsVsGirders #GondalGroupofIndustries

[Project] Menard UK collaborated with TD Jagger Ltd to conduct ground improvement works beneath the foundations and floor slab of the new Seabrook Crisp factory extension. Key information: 📍 Location: United Kingdom ⚙️ Technique: Controlled Modulus Columns 📅 Year: 2024 🏭 Ground Conditions : Initial investigations revealed that the site was constructed over natural clays. At the request of Menard UK, additional CPT were carried out across the entire site to precisely map the variations in different layers and inform the detailed CMC design. ⚙️ Why Controlled Modulus Columns? To support the foundations and floor slab of the extension, Menard UK used Controlled Modulus Columns (CMCs). This technique was chosen due to its efficiency and minimal disruption to the existing facility, which remained operational throughout the work. 📈 Benefits : Menard UK offered a CMC solution that allowed the construction of conventional shallow foundations, reduced the carbon footprint, and accelerated the construction sequence.
