The group leading the Interstate Bridge replacement project released a document that offers insights into how a new I-5 bridge between Oregon and Washington would change travel in the region. Select highlights from the analysis show tolling of the bridge is not expected to cause significant diversion to the Glenn Jackson Bridge, some areas of the Fort Vancouver site could be affected by the construction, and travel times during rush hour should improve if the bridge is built. The Oklahoma City Council approved a zoning change allowing a developer to build what is planned to be a 1,907-ft tower—and North America's tallest structure—in a mixed-use development. The rezoning, which passed by an 8-to-1 vote, removes the height restriction originally placed on the site. Further approvals from the council will be needed as the plan moves ahead. The project as currently envisioned consists of a base with three mid-rise towers and a fourth, the Legends Tower, that if built would set a height record for the U.S. and North America. The Hwy 212 Bayou Derriseaux Structures project involved the replacement of two bridges - a main structure and relief structure - over Bayou Derriseaux on Highway 212 in Cleveland County, Arkansas. The goal was to improve hydraulic capacity, comply with Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) standards and remove load limits. The new integral bridges, measuring 143 feet by 33 feet and 241 feet by 33 feet, feature two 11-foot-wide paved travel lanes with 4-foot-wide shoulders. One of the key advantages of these integral bridges is their durability. By eliminating expansion joints and ensuring structural continuity, they require less maintenance and offer superior performance in terms of structural integrity, seismic resistance, and ride quality. Michael Baker International played a crucial role in this project, providing roadway and bridge design plans, hydraulic and geotechnical studies. The project also involved acquiring additional right of way and temporary construction easements. The biggest public construction project in decades for the Portland metro area may break ground as soon as late 2025, according to the latest estimates from planners at the Interstate Bridge Replacement (IBR) project. IBR is the current incarnation of plans going back more than two decades to replace the aging Interstate 5 bridge over the Columbia River. The existing site had previously received approval for a primary and secondary dwelling under the prior city plan. The objective was to extend this approval and enhance its value through a minor change application. The client decided to relocate an existing Queensland-style dwelling, approximately 280m², to the front of the rural acreage property. Additionally, they planned to design a new primary dwelling, approximately 480m², on the hilltop overlooking a valley, while also securing approval for a large shed. Given that the new city plan restricts secondary dwellings to a maximum gross floor area of 80m², and we had an approval of 280m², it was crucial to maintain the current approval. This is vital for the client's financial strategy, which involves renting both dwellings. _______________________________________________________________________ Project Manager - IMPACT DESIGN Planner - @CoastTownPlanning Building Certifier - @platinumbuildingapprovals Structural Engineers - @ProjectsAndDesignsEngineers Hydraulic Engineers - @smithhydraulicdesign Effluent Design - @countrywidewater Bushfire - @EldonBotcherArchitect Geotechnical Engineer - @geotechinvestigations Interiors - IMPACT DESIGN _____________________________________________ ▪️ #impactbuildingdesign #impactdesign ▪️
