Keir Starmer and Ed Miliband are evangelical about pylons. But pylons are NOT cheap. Let’s take a look at the 180km National Grid Norwich to Tilbury (N2T) proposal. National Grid say the N2T project will cost c£900m. The likely real cost of the Norwich to Tilbury pylons project is over £8bn. Why? - Because compared with other projects it is very under budgeted - It doesn't include BNG costs or 'Community Benefits' - It doesn't include legal delays. And there WILL be challenges - It doesn't include Treasury Green Book contingency 40% - It doesn't include Treasury Green book cost impacts: socio-economic (house prices, tourism, farming & other businesses) or natural capital impact. And there are other ways of doing things, anyway: - integrated offshore grid - existing grid upgrade using grid enhancing technologies - HVDC undergrounding All three are cheaper, better and more popular.

These tests are a crucial part of the project’s development plan and are important for several reasons: • They help determine if specific construction solutions are appropriate for the site. • They help determine the depth for placing foundations to match soil and geological conditions. • They allow precise static calculations to ensure the stability and safety of constructions so they don’t fly away in tornadoes like drones 🌪️ to the neighbourhood country. The result? The project will adopt solutions that not only meet the highest safety standards but also considerably optimise costs and enhance project efficiency. 🌊 "Project SILO : Seaweeds Into Land Operations" The seaweed industry in South America heavily relies on natural extraction, which historically has been settled in warm environments where storage is aided naturally. However, seaweed aquaculture has arisen in southern Chile, where the dry-out route becomes an issue due to low temperatures. This GSC supported projet led by Universidad de Los Lagos' i~mar center in Chile offers an alternative for kelp biomass utilization, long-term storage and enrichment using ensilage techniques for Macrocystis pyrifera. Two key aspects are evaluated : using additives and different physical configurations for fermentation. A technical and economic analysis will be performed to assess the implications of large-scale seaweed ensilage implementation in this region.
