Have you heard of the Montreal Protocol? This groundbreaking 1987 treaty established a global agreement to phase out the production and consumption of harmful chemicals depleting the ozone layer. The ozone layer shields the planet from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, providing critical protection for both humans and the environment. Without it, we would be at heightened risk of skin cancer, weakened immune systems, stunted plant growth, accelerated climate change, and more. The Montreal Protocol was one of the first treaties in United Nations (UN) history to achieve universal participation by every country in the world. Because of it, scientists say we can expect to see an almost full recovery of the ozone layer by the middle of the century! On this International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, we celebrate the Montreal Protocol and its success in safeguarding our planet. It serves as a reminder that by taking global action to address environmental challenges, we can make a significant impact. Today is World Ozone Day! 👣🌱 This year's theme is "The Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action" and here at #BUSE Gases, we do so through our collaborations, business associates who operate Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) systems. The Montreal Protocol is a global agreement that aims to protect the ozone layer by reducing the production and use of ozone-depleting substances (ODS). The protocol was finalized in 1987 and is considered a landmark environmental agreement. * How it helps The protocol has helped save millions of people from cancer and has contributed to protecting the Earth's climate system. * Who signed it The United States signed the protocol in 1987 and has been a leader in guiding its success. * Who has ratified it As of October 2022, 198 parties have ratified the original protocol, including all United Nations Member States, the European Union, the Cook Islands, Niue, and the Holy See. #JoinTheConversation#TheHomeOfGases ☎️ +44 (0) 121 524 1111 📩 sales@buse-group.uk

Thirty seven years ago, on September 16th 1987, government representatives from all over the world gathered in Montreal Canada to agree on an international treaty designed to restore the ozone layer—This treaty, the Montreal Protocol would go on to be hailed as one of the most successful examples of global environmental conservation efforts. What is the ozone layer? The ozone layer is a thin, yet crucial, layer in Earth’s stratosphere that acts as a protective barrier, absorbing harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun. This shield works by filtering out 97-99% of the sun’s damaging UV-B and UV-C radiation, allowing only the necessary sunlight to reach Earth, keeping our ecosystems and human health in balance. Without it, life on Earth would be at risk of increased UV exposure, leading to serious health and environmental impacts. Human activities, particularly the use of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) in refrigeration and aerosols, began depleting the ozone layer in the 20th century. Since the signing of the landmark Montreal treaty, the ozone layer is well on its way to recovery with the UN estimating that it is expected to return to pre-1980 levels by the middle of this century. On World Ozone Day, we celebrate the achievements of international cooperation in saving our planet’s silent shield. It’s a reminder that when we act together, we can heal the planet and safeguard our future. #WorldOzoneDay #SaveTheOzone #EnvironmentalSuccess #SustainableFuture #Sustainability

It’s World Ozone Day! 🌿💙🌏 Today we celebrate the incredible progress we've made in protecting our planet's vital ozone layer. The ozone layer shields us from harmful UV radiation, making the earth habitable. We managed to come together and make a positive difference to the environment with the Montreal Protocol, a global environmental treaty established on this day in 1987. This landmark agreement brought nations together to phase out the production and consumption of ozone-depleting substances, such as CFCs and halons. Thanks to the Montreal Protocol, the hole in our ozone layer is shrinking and one day will be gone completely if our current efforts are sustained. This shows how small actions can make a big difference, and how everyone’s cooperation is needed for for the well-being of our planet. #WorldOzoneDay #MontrealProtocol #OzoneLayer #CarbonEmissions #CarbonFootprint #Sustainability #ESG #ClimateAction

Today, we are celebrating the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, which marks the signing of the Montreal Protocol on September 16, 1987. This crucial agreement has been instrumental in protecting the ozone layer and addressing the impacts of climate change. 🌍✨ The ozone layer serves as Earth’s sunscreen, protecting us from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Without it, there would be increased risks of skin cancer, cataracts, and harm to ecosystems. 🔍 Thanks to international efforts and the commitment of businesses, governments, and individuals, the ozone layer is showing significant signs of recovery. The Montreal Protocol is one of the most successful environmental agreements in history, emphasizing that global cooperation can bring about positive change. 🌱 To contribute to a healthier planet, we can: - Choose environmentally friendly products and technologies to reduce our carbon footprint - Educate ourselves and others about the importance of the ozone layer and climate action - Support policies and initiatives aimed at protecting the atmosphere and reducing greenhouse gas emissions Let’s continue working together to create a better world for future generations. 🌿💪 #OzoneLayer #MontrealProtocol #ClimateAction #Sustainability #EnvironmentalProtection #GlobalCooperation Dave Wallensky

🌍 Today is World #OzoneDay Today marks the UN’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. On this day, we celebrate the incredible progress made in protecting the ozone layer—a vital shield that protects all life on Earth from harmful UV radiation. 🌞 In 1987, the world united to adopt the #MontrealProtocol, a landmark agreement to phase out ozone-depleting substances. 🙌 But the work isn't done! Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) used to replace these substances are potent greenhouse gases. The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol focuses on phasing down HFCs to advance climate action further. 🌐 Four out of every five nations have ratified the Kigali Amendment. If successfully implemented, the amendment can contribute to advancing climate mitigation efforts, protecting people and the planet. 🌱 📢 Let’s continue advocating for stronger environmental policies. The Montreal Protocol is the world's most effective multilateral environmental agreement. The "treaty that works" has successfully phased out virtually all production of ozone-depleting substances, such as CFCs and halons, since its inception in 1987. Now, under the Kigali Amendment, the Montreal Protocol is phasing down production of HFCs and, in the process, creating new and fast-growing markets for climate-friendly refrigerants of all kinds. At Exergyn, we are well-positioned to capitalize on this global shift in refrigerants across a wide range of heating and cooling applications. https://wapo.st/4bUznW6

🌍 Celebrating World Ozone Day September 16,2024: Advancing Climate Action with the Montreal Protocol 🌿 This year, we commemorate the Montreal Protocol with the theme: "Advancing Climate Action". Since its inception in 1987, the Montreal Protocol has been a beacon of international cooperation, successfully phasing out ozone-depleting substances and significantly contributing to climate change mitigation. Why is this theme important? Ozone Layer Protection: The Protocol has played a crucial role in the recovery of the ozone layer, shielding us from harmful UV radiation. Climate Mitigation: By reducing hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), the Protocol also addresses potent greenhouse gases, helping to combat global warming. Global Collaboration: It exemplifies the power of collective action in tackling environmental challenges, with customs and law enforcement agencies worldwide working together to curb illegal trade in controlled substances. As we celebrate this milestone, let’s continue to support and amplify efforts that drive climate action and environmental protection. Together, we can create a sustainable future for generations to come. 🌱 #WorldOzoneDay #MontrealProtocol #ClimateAction #Sustainability #EnvironmentalProtection
