Have you heard of the Montreal Protocol? This groundbreaking 1987 treaty established a global agreement to phase out the production and consumption of harmful chemicals depleting the ozone layer. The ozone layer shields the planet from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, providing critical protection for both humans and the environment. Without it, we would be at heightened risk of skin cancer, weakened immune systems, stunted plant growth, accelerated climate change, and more. The Montreal Protocol was one of the first treaties in United Nations (UN) history to achieve universal participation by every country in the world. Because of it, scientists say we can expect to see an almost full recovery of the ozone layer by the middle of the century! On this International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, we celebrate the Montreal Protocol and its success in safeguarding our planet. It serves as a reminder that by taking global action to address environmental challenges, we can make a significant impact. Today is World Ozone Day! 👣🌱 This year's theme is "The Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action" and here at #BUSE Gases, we do so through our collaborations, business associates who operate Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) systems. The Montreal Protocol is a global agreement that aims to protect the ozone layer by reducing the production and use of ozone-depleting substances (ODS). The protocol was finalized in 1987 and is considered a landmark environmental agreement. * How it helps The protocol has helped save millions of people from cancer and has contributed to protecting the Earth's climate system. * Who signed it The United States signed the protocol in 1987 and has been a leader in guiding its success. * Who has ratified it As of October 2022, 198 parties have ratified the original protocol, including all United Nations Member States, the European Union, the Cook Islands, Niue, and the Holy See. #JoinTheConversation#TheHomeOfGases ☎️ +44 (0) 121 524 1111 📩 sales@buse-group.uk

🌍 Today is World #OzoneDay Today marks the UN’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. On this day, we celebrate the incredible progress made in protecting the ozone layer—a vital shield that protects all life on Earth from harmful UV radiation. 🌞 In 1987, the world united to adopt the #MontrealProtocol, a landmark agreement to phase out ozone-depleting substances. 🙌 But the work isn't done! Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) used to replace these substances are potent greenhouse gases. The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol focuses on phasing down HFCs to advance climate action further. 🌐 Four out of every five nations have ratified the Kigali Amendment. If successfully implemented, the amendment can contribute to advancing climate mitigation efforts, protecting people and the planet. 🌱 📢 Let’s continue advocating for stronger environmental policies. On September 16th, 1987, the #MontrealProtocol was officially finalized, a symbol of the global community’s commitment to addressing the depletion of the ozone layer. 🌎 The Montreal Protocol is an international agreement to phase out the production and use of substances that deplete the ozone layer like chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)—man-made chemical compounds commonly used in refrigeration, air conditioning, aerosol sprays, and foam-blowing applications. Germany was an early and strong advocate for international action on ozone depletion. German scientists provided key research on ozone depletion, raising global awareness about the environmental dangers of CFCs and working to develop alternatives to CFCs and other harmful chemicals. The Montreal Protocol is a true success story of multilateralism in international environmental protection. To this day, it is one of the most successful environmental agreements—and one of the first United Nations agreements to be ratified by all member states. The ozone layer, which the protocol aimed to protect, has been slowly but steadily recovering since the late 1990s. In the face of the triple planetary crisis—climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss—the Montreal Protocol is a reminder that the international community can come together to make a lasting, positive impact on the environment.

Did you know that 99% of ozone-depleting substances have been phased out since the 1980s? Why does this matter? The ozone layer is the Earth's shield against dangerous UV rays from the sun. Fixing the ozone layer is key to protecting ourselves from skin cancer, safeguarding ecosystems and helping to combat climate change. This year, the EU and its countries have adopted new rules which ban almost all uses of ozone depleting substances in the EU. #OzoneDay

The Montreal Protocol is the world's most effective multilateral environmental agreement. The "treaty that works" has successfully phased out virtually all production of ozone-depleting substances, such as CFCs and halons, since its inception in 1987. Now, under the Kigali Amendment, the Montreal Protocol is phasing down production of HFCs and, in the process, creating new and fast-growing markets for climate-friendly refrigerants of all kinds. At Exergyn, we are well-positioned to capitalize on this global shift in refrigerants across a wide range of heating and cooling applications. https://wapo.st/4bUznW6

🌍 Celebrating World Ozone Day September 16,2024: Advancing Climate Action with the Montreal Protocol 🌿 This year, we commemorate the Montreal Protocol with the theme: "Advancing Climate Action". Since its inception in 1987, the Montreal Protocol has been a beacon of international cooperation, successfully phasing out ozone-depleting substances and significantly contributing to climate change mitigation. Why is this theme important? Ozone Layer Protection: The Protocol has played a crucial role in the recovery of the ozone layer, shielding us from harmful UV radiation. Climate Mitigation: By reducing hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), the Protocol also addresses potent greenhouse gases, helping to combat global warming. Global Collaboration: It exemplifies the power of collective action in tackling environmental challenges, with customs and law enforcement agencies worldwide working together to curb illegal trade in controlled substances. As we celebrate this milestone, let’s continue to support and amplify efforts that drive climate action and environmental protection. Together, we can create a sustainable future for generations to come. 🌱 #WorldOzoneDay #MontrealProtocol #ClimateAction #Sustainability #EnvironmentalProtection

On September 16th, we mark the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, celebrating 35 years since the Montreal Protocol—a groundbreaking environmental agreement—was adopted. The ozone layer, our planet’s natural shield, protects all life from harmful UV rays. Yet, human-made chemicals like chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) have been depleting it, posing serious threats to health and the environment. The Montreal Protocol and its 2016 Kigali Amendment have been crucial in phasing out these ozone-depleting substances, leading to the healing of the ozone layer and preventing significant climate change. Thanks to global efforts, nearly 99% of harmful chemicals have been phased out, slowing climate change and potentially preventing millions of skin cancer cases. As we commemorate this day, let’s continue to support actions that protect our planet and ensure a sustainable future for all. More: https://lnkd.in/erpGS_jn #OzoneLayerDay
