🏆 Skövde - Awarded the Swedish Student City of the Year 2025! 🎉 We are proud to share that Skövde has been named Student City of the Year 2025 by the Swedish National Union of Students (SFS)! "This award confirms that Skövde is a city where students thrive academically, socially, and professionally,” says Muriel Beser Hugosson, Vice-Chancellor at The University of Skövde. Key factors behind the award: ✅ Welcoming environment: Students, both Swedish and international, receive comprehensive support in adjusting to life in Skövde. 🏠 Improved housing availability: Skövde has significantly enhanced its student housing options in the SFS report. ✅ Offering bilingual information: Both the Student Union and the University place a strong emphasis on providing information in both Swedish and English to support non-Swedish-speaking students. 🤝 Strong collaboration with business: Initiatives such as annually career fairs and Sweden Game Arena create meaningful connections between students and industry. This recognition is a direct result of the successful collaboration between the University of Skövde, Skövde Municipality, and the Student Union of Skövde, all working together to ensure a holistic student experience. Skövde is not only a place to study but a place where students are supported, engaged, and empowered to grow. 🌱 #INGENIUM #ERASMUS #EuropeanUniversity #HigherEdcuation #INGENIUMExperience #uniofskovde #playitlikeskovde

Alum-n-i Tip 9 - Private or Public University, doesn't really matter! Whether a university is public or private doesn't matter as much in Germany as it might in India, where college reputation heavily influences job placements. In Germany, you are responsible for finding a job on your own, and what truly counts is your skill set. Employers focus on how well you fit the role and whether you have the relevant skills. So, don't limit yourself to only top public universities when applying—focus on building the expertise you need for your career.

Did you know that attending a university fair could be the game-changer you need in your study abroad journey? Explore events like QS Quacquarelli Symonds University Fair, British Council Fair (Study in the UK), Linden Fairs, GMAC Tours, and Access MBA Events. These fairs aren’t just about brochures—they’re your gateway to getting direct answers from top university representatives on topics like admission criteria, scholarships, and campus life. Face-to-face conversations offer insights you simply won’t find online! Why Attend a University Fair? 🤔 University fairs offer a unique chance to meet admissions officers, faculty, and alumni, providing real-time insights into programs, campus life, and applications. You can compare universities, discover new opportunities, and clarify scholarships and visa details. Networking with key reps also gives you a competitive edge in your application. ⚠️A Word of Caution: Some fairs, especially those run by agents partnered with specific universities, may offer little value for students aiming for top institutions. Research thoroughly to select the right fairs. How to Make the Most of a University Fair: ✅ Do Your Research: Know which universities will be attending and prioritize based on your interests. ✅ Prepare Specific Questions: Ask about courses, internships, and scholarships to get targeted information. ✅ Carry Key Documents: Bring your academic records, CV, or portfolio for on-the-spot advice. ✅ Dress Professionally: Make a positive impression and show your commitment. What Not to Do at a University Fair: 🚫 Don’t Rely on Brochures: Personal conversations provide much deeper insights. 🚫 Don’t Go Unprepared: Research beforehand to know which universities to focus on. 🚫 Avoid Vague Questions: Be specific for more valuable answers. 🚫 Don’t Overlook Lesser-Known Universities: They may offer programs perfectly suited to your goals. With the right preparation, university fairs can be a pivotal moment in your study abroad journey. Take advantage of the opportunity! #studyabroad #universityfair #educationopportunities #networking #careergoals #admissions #jitinchawla Aashna Kapoor Bhawini Vasudeva Kirti Dixit Tarun Gosvāmī TANYA HUSSAIN

Some really great advice as to how NOT to land a job in academia. Getting a job or not getting a job is not a box-ticking exercise. But if you don't want to get a job, just strongly underperform with respect to several of the following criteria: Teaching External engagement Academic management Research Service for others Actually, clearly willing to underperform in two out of six will suffice. (Some pet peeve regarding the academic management issue: the article mentions that you should find out who is on the hiring panel and do your research about them. In many countries thats a big no-no, and seen as very tacky.)
