In our recent survey, 87% of firms reported that trainees did not take ownership of their role in the success of working dynamics with their supervisors, team and other key stakeholders. In our newly developed competency-led trainee programme, relationship and stakeholder management forms a key part of the training. I am honored and overwhelmed with joy to have been nominated and chosen for the McGill, Power, Bell & Associates, LLP Blue Ribbon Award for February 2023. It is encouraging to see the nominations each month and how exemplary qualities shine through various team members and impact others throughout the firm. The purpose of the blue ribbon award is to promote additional positive feedback within MPB and recognize employees that go above and beyond. Each month, employees are encouraged to nominate fellow co-workers (interns to partners) who have embodied the MPB mission and values within the firm or out in our communities. The engagement committee will then anonymously review those nominations and submit finalists to the partners to select one winner each month. Below is the nomination I am beyond honored to have received in February: "This individual is one of the best team players. Lately they've been spending a significant amount of time training interns and young staff, and are working many more hours than what is required. This individual bounces back and forth from cube to cube answering question after question, while also juggling their own workload during busy season and maintaining a healthy work/life balance. As hard as training new staff can be, this person understands the importance of one-on-one teaching and never hesitates to sit down and help. They encourage and promote growth in all the younger staff, challenging them but also helping along the way. They're a great leader and someone I look up to." #mpb #taxseason #award #teamwork
