I am delighted to share that our recent research article titled “Role of carbide grit size and in-flight particle parameters on the microstructure, phases, and nanoscale properties of HVOF sprayed WC-12Co coatings” has been published in the Journal "Surface and Coatings Technology". In this work, we have captured the effect of particle temperature on in-flight reactions and phase composition of the as-sprayed coatings while keeping the particle velocity nearly constant and vice-versa. The key aspects of this current investigation are: I. Understanding the effect of either particle temperature or velocity on phase composition, while keeping the other nearly constant. II. The effect of cooling rate and carbide dissolution on amorphization of binder matrix. III. The effect of carbide size on dissolution kinetics and decarburization mechanisms. IV. The effect of dissolution and decarburization on mechanical properties of binder and carbide phase. I thank my PhD supervisor Professor Partha Pratim Bandyopadhyay for his constant support and encouragement. I would also like to thank the Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), India for funding this project and the VTC Surface Technologies Visakhapatnam, A.P, INDIA for letting us use the HVOF coating facility.
