The international community must act swiftly to address the severe human rights violations occurring in Gaza. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant civilian casualties, displacement, and widespread suffering. Immediate and decisive action is essential to prevent further loss of life and to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those in desperate need. Upholding human rights and international law is a COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY, and the world cannot stand by as these atrocities continue. It is imperative for global leaders to unite in demanding accountability and to work towards a just and lasting resolution for the people of Gaza.

This World Humanitarian Day and every day we stand with humanitarian organisations and the sacrifices of those working for humanitarian causes across the world in our commitment to #ActForHumanity. 2023 was the deadliest year on record for humanitarian workers and 2024 is on track to be even worse with escalating attacks in #Palestine and #Sudan, in #Myanmar and #Ukraine. In a year marking 75 years since the adoption of the #GenevaConventions, we must uphold international treaties that contain crucial rules limiting the barbarity of war and form the basis of International Humanitarian Law. Humanitarian workers are not targets. We need to work for peace with justice across the world #worldhumanitarianday #Humanity #Peace https://lnkd.in/gPbG9T5p

Some serious lessons in this.
A conversation with Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, more commonly referred to as UNRWA. We speak about the crisis in Gaza. Philippe calls out the blatant disregard for international humanitarian law by Hamas and Israel. He details the brutal conditions for civilians and aid workers, saying the death toll is appalling https://lnkd.in/e9M59ijW

🌍 Major Step Forward in Humanitarian Efforts for Gaza 🕊️ In a new development yesterday March 28, 2024, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) took a firm stand on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, marking a critical moment for human rights advocacy and international legal intervention. This comes as a partial win for human rights, signaling a ray of hope in a long-standing crisis. 👉🏼 Key Highlights: • The ICJ emphasizes the urgent need for unhindered humanitarian aid, including essential services and supplies like food, water, and medical care. • Israel is mandated to ensure that its military operations do not impede the rights of Palestinians in Gaza, a significant directive aimed at protecting a vulnerable population under the Genocide Convention. • The order includes a requirement for Israel to report back on the implementation of these measures, ensuring accountability and ongoing scrutiny of the situation. The ICJ's binding order received widespread support from judges, underscoring a global consensus on the urgency of the Gaza humanitarian crisis. But of course, Vice-President Sebutinde 🇺🇬 and Judge ad hoc Barak 🇮🇱 dissented in certain votes 🥱y.

“Under international humanitarian law, civilians must be protected – and they must be able to receive the essentials they need to survive, including food, shelter, and health care,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres stresses. “A major obstacle to distributing aid across Gaza is the lack of security for humanitarians and the people we serve. Humanitarian convoys, facilities and personnel, and the people in need, must not be targets.” The Secretary-General again calls on the Israeli authorities to allow and facilitate safe, rapid and unimpeded access for humanitarian aid and humanitarian workers, including UNRWA, throughout Gaza. https://lnkd.in/eHSZPibx

🌍 #WorldHumanitarianDay Every day, humanitarian workers risk their lives to support people in need, often in the most dangerous conditions. #Sudan currently presents one of the most severe challenges to International Humanitarian Law (IHL), where humanitarian workers can hardly operate in West Darfur and where civilians are severely affected. Tragically, Läkarmissionen / LM International is not exempt from these threats as we recognize and commemorate our colleagues who have lost their lives in the line of duty while providing humanitarian intervention in #Sudan since the outbreak of the armed conflict. Our commitment remains steadfast in delivering aid to those in need #NoMatterWhat, and we continue to serve in some of the most challenging humanitarian contexts. Acting for humanity means respecting the fundamental rights afforded to every individual, particularly those impacted by armed conflict and in need of humanitarian assistance. The courage and resilience of our colleagues and partners, who work tirelessly to provide this assistance, ensure the dignity and rights of vulnerable groups affected by diverse humanitarian crises. In commemoration of the #WorldHumanitarianDay, Läkarmissionen / LM International joins the global humanitarian community in calling for those in power to adhere to and enforce IHL to protect humanitarian workers and civilians in armed conflict. #ActForHumanity #WorldHumanitarianDay #WHD2024 #NotATarget VOICE EU, United Nations OCHA, European Commission - ECHO, Ursula von der Leyen, Regeringskansliet, Utrikesdepartementet

In a shocking display of brazen contempt, Israeli soldiers have been seen boasting about stealing humanitarian aid intended for Gaza, openly mocking the United Nations and the international community's efforts to provide relief to the beleaguered region. Videos and photos circulating on social media reveal soldiers flaunting stolen aid supplies, a move that has sparked outrage and condemnation worldwide. The stolen aid, meant to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian civilians amidst the ongoing conflict, includes vital supplies such as food, water, and medical equipment. These actions not only exacerbate the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza but also demonstrate a flagrant disregard for international law and human rights. The soldiers' mockery of the UN and other humanitarian organizations adds a disturbing layer to the situation. By openly deriding these institutions, they undermine the global efforts to address the crisis and provide essential support to those in desperate need. This behavior highlights the urgent need for stronger international intervention and accountability to ensure that aid reaches its intended recipients without obstruction. #InternationalJustice #HumanRights #OccupiedTerritories #IsraelPalestine #Accountability #FreePalestine #GazaUnderAttack #StoptheGenocide #BreaktheSilence #PalestinianLivesMatter #EndIsraeliApartheid #IsraelApartheidState #IsraeliWarCrimes #IsraelisTerroristState #InternationalCriminalCourt #UnitedNations #OIC #ICJ #UnitedStates #USIsrael #AllEyesonRafah #IsraelStealsGazaAid #USSupportsGenocide #GlobalPeaceSummit
