Today we're excited to announce our investment to Pactum AI in their recent $20M Series B 🤩 Pactum’s autonomous bots can contact thousands of suppliers simultaneously seeking the best pricing and terms for routine corporate purchases in logistics and a wide range of other sectors. Launched in 2019, Pactum’s software is negotiating deals in 10 languages for dozens of Fortune 500-sized customers, such as Walmart, Vodafone and Veritiv. The largest autonomously signed deal so far was a $28 million purchase that generated savings of $750,000 🤝 Our story with the Pactum's founding team goes way back when Martin Rand, Kaspar Korjus and Kristjan Korjus first started building Pactum at our coworking space Palo Alto Club. We're thrilled to join their journey supporting procurement teams around the world as they embrace AI agents as their colleagues, alongside Karma Ventures, Atomico, Project A, Maersk Growth, 3VC and PortfoLion Capital Partners 🤩 Onwards! 🚀 https://lnkd.in/dBYNuN4w

"Despite this renaissance of new hardware startups, the foundational software tooling for designing and building hardware has not kept up. The majority of tools in areas such as computer-aided design (CAD), electrical computer-aided design/electronic design automation (eCAD/EDA) and product lifecycle management (PLM) were developed in the 1980s and ‘90s without the benefit of native cloud support, collaboration or multi-party workflows." Couldn't agree more! The thread between the digital and physical world keeps getting tighter as teams look to automate data across engineering, manufacturing, and operations. "Companies that are best positioned to leverage AI in industrial applications are those with a unique data asset on which to train an LLM." - at Bild, I've seen firsthand the powerful insights teams can extract from a seemingly convoluted design and product information data set. Great read by Ajay and the BCV team!
At Bain Capital Ventures we have been actively investing in the physical world for over 20 years starting with our initial investment in Kiva Systems (now Amazon Fulfillment Technologies & Robotics). Today we are on the verge of an Industrial Renaissance driven by a confluence of new AI technologies, a massive need to upgrade and reinvest in our core infrastructure, and an influx of world class talent interested in innovating in the physical world. My colleagues at Bain Capital Ventures along with Zeeza Cole and myself are excited to launch BCV's Industrial Renaissance practice that builds upon our historical successes with scaled companies such as Kiva, ShipBob, MaintainX, Vention, FourKites, Inc. and dozens of emerging seed and Series A companies. In a new feature from me and Zeeza Cole, we share our insights from twenty years of investing in this space along with a summary of new opportunities ahead of us.
