Some current key insights into the mid level Procurement market in Melbourne: After a decline in job volumes during Q2, the Public Sector industry in Melbourne has shown a strong recovery in Q3, contributing to 40% of all roles recruited. This largely remains as a result of the investment in large-scale infrastructure projects, organisational tranformations and the pressure to optimise spending while delivering high-quality public services. There has also been a noticeable shift in the hiring trend, with 60% of roles now being contract positions. This change suggests that employers may be seeking more flexibility and are cautious about making long-term commitments amid ongoing market uncertainties. 75% of the candidate market remain passive, and there has been a reduction of immediately available candidates (5%, of the market) as a result of the increased prevalence of contract roles which are absorbing available talent. Slight increase of the number of active candidates as bonus period approaches, which suggests there will be some new active talent in the market as we approach Q4 and the new year. I had the pleasure of been contracted by a great connection here on LinkedIn, to sit with him for the selection interview between two exceptional professionals whose resume caught my attention, and I had recommended them earlier, to be interviewed for a great opportunity with very attractive salary package and benefits as a Procurement Manager for an FMCG company. 😎 These candidates were all qualified for the opportunity, but eventually, we needed to decide, whom to give the opportunity to. This was the summary of both candidates' interview … 👩💻 Candidate A- She highlighted her 10 years wealth of experience in Procurement, including managing complex negotiations and supplier relationships. Her track record of cost-saving initiatives and strategic sourcing, align perfectly with the demands of this role. More so, she holds a relevant certification in Procurement, showcasing her commitment to professional development. 🎀 On the other hand, Candidate B,- Has slightly less experience with 8 years in Procurement, but what she lacks in years, she makes it up in innovation.
