Despite large protests mainly by women against #familyvilence - though this is a family issue - there has been no new money promised for on the ground services, to examine the way courts are used to re-traumatise victim-survivors or to educate men, women, families about preventing family violence. Listening to the speeches and comments, it is difficult to believe Australia is a multicultural nation. There is no mention of funding for culturally-specific family violence services, education, prevention, healing. Is there no understanding that family violence has to be addressed and prevented in a cultural context? This silence will harm us all. It’s the binary male - female lens in those lands… sadly. Specific and most funding should be for the First Nations community education, prevention, healing.. Also for the CARM community. However in 2024 the yt lens continues to prevail in those lands. Supriya Singh
