All that glitters is not gold! Imagine spending a staggering Rs 6 crore on jewellery, only to find out it’s worthless. This was the shocking reality for an American woman named Cherish. She bought what she thought were precious items from Jaipur's famous Johri Bazaar, only to discover at a US exhibition in April 2024 that they were fake and valued at just Rs 300. How can you check if your gold is real? “To identify whether gold is real or fake, the first and foremost thing one should check is the hallmark stamps on the gold jewellery. Hallmarking determines the volume of precious metal in precious metal jewellery, which ensures that it is real and holds its purity value,” says Colin Shah, MD of Kama Jewelry. He adds, “Another way to test whether a gold jewellery is real or fake is to use a magnet. If the jewellery is magnetic, that means it is fake, as real gold is not magnetic.” Read here: https://mybs.in/2dWbOXb #fakegold #gold #fraud #scams

Today I went to buy some silver jewellery for my wife because it is considered auspicious to buy silver during the Karwa Chauth celebration. We went to Noida Sector 18 Market but couldn't find silver on majority of the jewellery, including PC Jewellers, Kalyan, Tanishq, and Reliance Jewels. Nobody was selling silver jewellery. Everyone was only trading in gold and platinum. Finally, we located KK Jwellers, which has a second floor dedicated to silver items. However, they were charging such high making charges for silver jewellery, most likely because they were aware of the scarcity of silver jewellery in their area. You cannot grasp the premium one must pay while purchasing silver jewelery. The silver rate listed on their display is 97.5 per gram. We purchased around 14.61 gram; the cost was 3721/-, excluding GST. Although they did not mention making charges and selling the things for the MRP , this does not obscure the original character of making charges. According to simple maths, there were 157 rupees making costs per gram, which accounted for over 160% of the metal price. We swapped an old silver object that had been acquired for 2500/- but was now only worth 1233/- after one year thanks to making charges. It merely demonstrates the enormous potential in the silver jewellery sector that all of the major jewellers are overlooking. According to astrology, silver is considered auspicious and naturally calmer than gold. #pcjweller #tanishq #kkjwellers #reliance #silver #gold #jwellery

Jewellery has been a critical element of weddings. The worth of your love is often measured in the carat of the diamond placed on the ring finger. However, it's time to rethink the worth placed on these gems, which were measured against the seeds of carob tree in the olden days. Real estate and diamond jewellery are high value purchases where one allocates a significant part of their earnings and surplus. Aligning these to the right resale value is a financially smart decision and smart spenders must understand that diamonds hardly have any resale value. Going by the price trends, the value of lab grown diamonds has fallen to 1/5th since 2016-17 and natural diamonds have lost 25-30% of their value in the same period. #diamonds #diamondsareforever #diamondsareagirlsbestfriend #carat #personalfinance #investment #jewellery #glitter #wedding #engagement #engagementring #shaadi #shaadikitaiyari

💫Insights on Indian Jewelry Preferences: The Enduring Charm of Yellow Gold Reflecting on the evergreen allure of yellow gold among Indian customers, it’s fascinating to observe its sustained popularity amidst an influx of new products in the market, including designer antique, polki, diamonds, etc. Could it be the timeless appeal that resonates with millennial brides, or perhaps the prudent decision-making of family elders mindful of budget considerations, especially on spending extra on making charges and stones? To be honest, I once questioned the future of yellow gold because it’s the millennial brides who are now making purchasing decisions for their weddings, anticipating a shift in consumer preferences. However, my fascination has grown as I’ve witnessed its continued dominance, particularly in major volume markets like Kerala in the South, where I am from. As a bridge brand between tradition and modernity, Meralda Jewels focuses on catering to the genre of customers who seek the best of both worlds. We are delighted to see the acceptance among early adopters in this category, reaffirming our commitment to providing jewelry that we believe in. #YellowGold #ConsumerTrends #CulturalSignificance #IndianJewellery

Colour gemstones are at times an under-appreciated segment of the jewellery industry. In truth, they’re currently enjoying somewhat of a boom, particularly pearls and the “big three” – rubies, sapphires and emeralds. Prices have increased in the past year and continue to do so due to rising consumer interest and supply constraints. But their value transcends just price, as we must also consider their cultural legacy spanning centuries. Provenance is also a feature of the gemstone market, particularly for emeralds where it is possible to prove from which mine or region a stone originated. Consumers are giving more attention to the big three but also to alternative gemstones of similar colours which are maybe more affordable. For example, red spinel has a comparable look to rubies. There are many such examples. That’s partly why I love the colour gemstone market. The options are endless, leaving so much room for creativity both for the trade and consumers. I’ve experienced that myself in bringing Zen Diamonds to India. There’s such a beautiful interplay between colour gems and diamonds in our gemstones collection. India plays an important role in the gemstone market, both as a manufacturing centre and a significant consumer market. Exports of colour gemstones grew 17% to INR 3.96 billion ($478.6 million) in fiscal year that ended March 31, 2024, according to the Gem And Jewellery Export Promotion CouncilÊ(Gjepc) That’s well above pre-Covid levels. It may be difficult to match those numbers this year and we saw a decline in April. But that doesn’t take away the opportunity that this segment of the market presents. I’m excited to see how it evolves as more consumers become aware of the magical world of gemstones. PS, what’s your favourite gemstone and why? #GemStones #Jewellery #DiamondIndustry

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KARAT AND CARAT 'Karat' is used to determine the purity of gold. Now pure gold has 24 karats but it's too soft to make jewellery out of for daily wear. Then there's 22k gold, which is in simpler terms 22 parts gold and 2 parts other metals like copper or silver and can be used to make jewellery. Then there's 18k gold, which has 6 parts other metals offering good durability and purity, and then comes 14k, this is 8 parts other metals but is durable and affordable. Now the term Carat, it is used to determine the weight of the diamond 💎. Each Carat is 200mg, so basically it means 5 carats equal 1 gram and it indicates greater the carat the larger the gemstone. #jewellery #education #gemstones #diamonds #diamond #gold #puregold #24k
