Did you know over the course of 2 weeks in the summer, we’re seeing about 2 TONNES of bulk animal waste being collected?! That is a HUGE amount of organic waste, being collected in such a tight area… we’re so proud to be a part of the poo-lution solution for Waterloo region! ♻️ #greenspacedesign #wastesolution #wastesolutions #inground #garbadedisposal #cleancity #cleancitygreencity #parkscanada #parkcleanup #dogpoop #dogpoopbags

The wool we use in our designs conforms to the Responsible Wool Standard and is sourced from some of the happiest sheep in Ireland who live in small flocks maintained frequently by small organic farmers. Some say that PETA would have you believe all wool represents cruelty to animals. While we cannot speak to the standards maintained in other countries where sheep farms may unsustainably house 10 million or more animals, the harvesting of our wool is borne out of an age old tradition and performed with care and respect. Additionally the science exists to show that choosing naturally occurring wool over artificial fibres can actually counteract the increasing epidemic of microplastics. We wonder what PETA might have to say about that #responsiblewoolstandard

" The global honey market size was valued at USD 9.01 billion in 2022 and is predicted to increase by 5.03% annually. Consequently, honey adulteration and counterfeiting are common practices around the world resulting in a negative impact on the honey industry and consumers. - Currently, most fraud is committed by blending honey with one or more syrups however new adulteration techniques have been developed to bypass current testing methodologies. - There is a clear need to move to faster and smarter testing regimes beyond current minimal targeted approaches. In this webinar we present an enhancement to the well-established two-tier testing strategy which not only addresses fraud but also other key attributes such as quality, potency, and purity. - Utilizing field deployable FTIR spectroscopy for rapid and facile first tier screening, followed by High Resolution Accurate Mass (HRAM) analysis using LC/Q-TOF and lastly a GC/Q-TOF mass spectrometry methods. - This work is representative of varieties of honey from several botanical origins across the globe and is designed to address multiple challenges facing the honey industry and end consumers. - Learning Outcomes • The current strategies to assess honey authentication and adulteration. • Gain an understanding of the various challenges that exist from an industry perspective. • Understand the role of HRAM and chemometrics for confirmatory analysis and the steps involved to successfully develop and deploy such technology for routine analysis."

At last!! After always heading North to visit farm businesses, today for the first time I ventured South of home! It involved a trip across the water to the IOW to visit two farm businesses as part of the Soil Association Exchange service. The Soil Association Exchange service supports farmers and the way they do business. Metrics are robustly measured across impact areas such as soil health, carbon, biodiversity, animal welfare , water and social. New metrics include Soil Cover %, Food Production and Nutrient Balances. The holistic farm measurement tool includes a package of tailored recommendations and expert advice, with which farmers are able to unlock the financial benefits of regenerative land use and sustainable farming practices. Soil Association Exchange is accessible to all farmers, regardless of their type, scale of operation or location. It was encouraging to discover today, farm businesses growing and producing food for their local community and meeting their nature-positive and circular economy ambitions. #naturepositive #climatesmartagriculture #circulareconomy #sustainablefarming

Did you know that access to fresh water isn’t just essential for communities, but for their livestock too? In Maasai culture, cattle are central to their way of life, providing food, income, and cultural identity. L Squared’s Tova Water project ensures that these animals, so vital to daily life, have access to fresh water, just like this newly built water trough you see here. Clean water helps keep cattle healthy and productive, which in turn supports families and the local economy. When you support water projects like this, you’re directly investing in a sustainable future for both people and their animals. #WaterIsLife #MaasaiCulture #FreshWaterForAll #SustainableFarming #TovaWaterProject
