Analysing data in a silo is a meaningless & hollow exercise - regardless of whether you're a data expert or not.”    What's most exciting thing to you about the platform?  “Whilst it is somewhat ordinary in the current wider tech market, Chat IVP will democratise access to a businesses data in a way that has never been done before. Enabling colleagues with no background in data to understand their analysis through a focused lens is game-changing.”    What's something you wish everyone knew about data?  “Good data should not be complicated. In fact, if extracting key insights from a graph/table/chart is taking longer than 5 minutes, it may not be formatted/modelled well enough. Loved the opportunity to facilitate the panel discussion at FST Media Future of Financial Services last week, on scaling the impact of data management and AI across institutions through self-service capabilities Here are a few of the many interesting insights from Joanne Dutton, Ian Jackman, Xi Liang & Ed Santow … 💡𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Before attempting to federate, important to have the right foundations and guardrails in place. 💡𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗢𝗻𝗲-𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲-𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘀-𝗔𝗹𝗹: In complex, diverse organisations, self-service can mean very different things to different people, depending on their needs and skills. To scale capabilities effectively, assess needs across the spectrum then build a framework with a CoE model that can support those different consumption patterns. 💡𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗜: the general level of trust across the Australian community with the use of AI is the lowest of any country in the OECD. Partly due to that, there’s increasing focus from both federal and state governments on: * Enforcing existing laws in relation to AI (majority of our laws are tech neutral) * Supporting industry with new voluntary commitments / guidelines * Establishing new mandatory guardrails. Leaders need to stay across these developments. 💡𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀: The sheer pace at which GenAI is advancing makes it important to have some clear principles to guide investment decisions, for example: * Don’t build capabilities which are likely to be incorporated in commercial offerings in time, * Don’t invest in augmenting 3rd party offerings, * When you do invest in building, ensure it’s modular / replaceable if a better solution emerges. 💡𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀: A specific challenge with the emergence of GenAI - unlike virtually any previous technology, it’s so immediately accessible for anyone in the business, there’s an illusion of simplicity, combined with excitement about potential. Before federating, important to think about tech foundations, people and capability, risk and governance. As we discussed, Intelligent Automation (IA) is a strategic enabler that provides mechanisms for deriving value from Artificial Intelligence (AI) through the Digital Transformation of the organization. In other words, IA takes AI from novel concepts with potential to digital implementation, transforming the nature of work and the firm as a whole and driving a company's bottom line by increasing overall operational efficiency and effectiveness.
