Gym. And only gym. There’s already lots to love about Gymshark - from their approach to corporate growth, to their ability to scale a community, to their CEO’s inspiring founder story. But the thing I love most is when a brand really knows its audience and laser focuses on them and what they care about most. A lot of fast-growing e-commerce brands quickly broaden their product offering in an attempt to drive faster and faster revenue growth. But obviously there’s a trap - the chance that short-term success short-changes the brand advocates and why they worship you. And that’s why I love Gymshark’s new campaign. Creatively I doubt it’ll win any awards but the new campaign, ‘We Do Gym’, is great. It not only shows how well they understand their core audience, it also confidently kicks against what they’re not about as a brand. In the words of Chief Brand Officer, Noel Mack, "We make gym stuff. The best gym stuff. Built from the squat rack, not the running track". For a comparatively young global brand, with seemingly lots of room to still grow within its gym niche, keeping a tight focus feels like a winning brand strategy to me. #gymshark #brandfocus

GymShark speaks to its fans like two friends sharing a joke by leveraging insider knowledge and humour. It features visuals of common gym experiences such as calloused hands, pre-workout jitters, and the staple diet of chicken, rice, and broccoli. These elements are instantly recognizable to gym-goers and create a sense of belonging and community among Gymshark's target audience. By celebrating the "niches and nuances" of gym sub-culture, the campaign resonates deeply with fitness enthusiasts.
