Small actions create ripples that have a lasting impact. This story from Beth Israel Lahey Health beautifully illustrates how empathy and compassion, paired with expertise, can transform a patient's experience. While expert care is essential, it's the human touch that often makes the greatest difference. Every moment of kindness, creativity, and support adds up, helping patients not only heal but feel seen and understood. Whether it’s offering a listening ear, sharing a passion like painting, or just being there, these small moments shape the bigger picture. The ripple effect of your compassion can change someone's life. Keep showing up like this—it matters more than you know. #AtomicHabits #EmpathyInAction #HealthcareHeroes #RadiationOncology #Xray #RadiologicTechnologist #CancerCare #CompassionateCare #RadiationTherapist #PatientExperience #Radiologix #HealingThroughCare #MindsetMatters #SmallStepsBigImpact #JessicaMacDonald
I am deeply moved by the empathy and compassion our team showed for a patient navigating the heavy burden of a head and neck cancer. It reminded me of why we are called to #RadiationOncology and why being a #Radiationtherapist is a calling only few are able to have. Watching each of you offer not only expert care but also genuine support and understanding reminded me of the profound impact we have on our patients’ journeys. Your kindness, patience, and dedication make all the difference, and really shine. One member Jessica MacDonald got to show off her passion for painting as well when the patient requested wanting to feel like 1980s Batman😌 Beth Israel Lahey Health Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Varian Elekta Klarity (USA)

Here's a controversial truth: Sometimes keeping your normal routine is the best medicine. When everyone expected me to stop everything, I discovered something powerful: Purpose is a healing force. What staying engaged did for me: • Kept my mind focused on living, not just surviving • Maintained my sense of normalcy • Gave me goals beyond treatment • Preserved my identity beyond 'patient' But here's the key: I modified without stopping. I adjusted without surrendering. I adapted without giving up. This isn't about pushing yourself too hard. It's about maintaining your connection to life while healing. Remember: You're healing to live, not living to heal. 👉 If you want a free guide that gives you the first steps to take on your breast cancer journey, just let me know and I'll send it to you 🔥

#Exercise is vital for our patients with #cancer. But only about 15% of these individuals are meeting the American College of Sports Medicine and American Cancer Society guidelines! Help put your patients on the path to wellness with these simple tips, presented by Sami (Papacek) Mansfield, Founder of Cancer Wellness for Life, during this morning’s #AONNMidyear2024 Pre-Conference Session 2. While every conversation about exercise should begin with education, the next steps are encouragement and empowerment. Sami urges #oncology providers to: - Help your patients feel empowered to exercise by emphasizing what they CAN do - Not let perfect be the enemy of good. When it comes to exercise, even something is better than nothing - Emphasize the power of building muscle to combat side effects of treatment What were your favorite takeaways from this session? Strong businesses are built on strong foundations—and that includes health. 💼 This October, we encourage you and your team to prioritize self-care with a simple breast self-exam. We stand with the fight against breast cancer. 💖 Here’s how you can perform yours: In the Mirror: Stand with your arms at your sides, then raise them overhead. Look for changes in size, shape, or color, and check for any swelling or dimpling. While Lying Down: Use your opposite hand to feel your breast with circular motions, moving from the outer edge to the center. Make sure to check both sides carefully. In the Shower: With soapy hands, feel your entire breast, checking for any lumps or thickened areas under the skin. Your health is worth it—make this part of your routine. 💗 Early detection saves lives! #BreastCancerAwareness #ThinkPink #EarlyDetection #BreastCancerAwareness #EarlyDetectionMatters #PinkMonth
