Is Being an IT Field Technician as Tough as It Seems After 1 Week? #ITFieldTechnician #TechJourney #LearningCurve Hey everyone, Just wanted to share an update after my first week as an IT Field Technician. If you remember my post from last week, I mentioned it was quite a rough start, and honestly, that's still true. But I’m starting to find my feet—slowly! Here’s a little breakdown of how each day went. Spoiler alert: it was a rollercoaster! 🎢 Day 1: Wow, this was the toughest! Being self-employed for the first time really threw me into the deep end. I showed up at my first call only to find I had to replace half of a laptop without any idea how to do it. 😩 I spent over two hours on what should have been a one-hour fix, largely because I was clueless about a loose EDP cable. The customer’s comment, "What’s taking you so long?" hit hard, and I left feeling pretty hopeless. Days 2-4: Thankfully, I started to feel a bit better! I managed to tackle 4-5 calls each day, though I did lose a few screws here and there (screws are sneaky! 🔩). A prett... Answers: https://lnkd.in/gqmcPdgG .

Three superb career roles, at SpaceX. There'll be a number of you who're looking at this and thinking "I haven't got a clue how to make that happen", or worse, you'll have a supervisor or manager, maybe even family, that are expressing to you: what makes you think you can land a rocket booster? Years ago, during an interview in Canada, I was given a technical test to complete. Unbeknownst to me, I scored an A+. The company was an American firm, and my score came to the attention of Head office. Who contacted our CEO, Bruce, mentioning to him. "Once he passes probation, promote him to an Industrial Engineer, then, we want to see him, in America". My supervisor and manager, both, freaked out, as they felt that position and going to America, was for them. They hatched a plan and went to see our CEO to present the case that either one of them, should be going to head office. I happened to come in early that day, and heard most of the argument. They wanted to have me, answering phones, as I had an excellent telephone manner. Rather than continue to listen, I walked out. Within-a-week, I landed a superb career role, at another American company, in Canada. A number of years later, when that role came to an end, as the economy in Canada is a rollercoaster. Or perhaps, it's just very badly managed. I found that the career role that I had, was the only one of its kind. So, I started a business to think through my options. That business took off, and soon, people and businesses were throwing money at me, to solve their problems. Which yet again, led to American business owners in Canada, paying a lot of attention to me, and relaying to me, that I needed to go to America. So, I started looking for career roles in America, and was awestruck by the level of opportunities. You'll be asking, "Why would you look for a career role, when you had a successful business?". One, I didn't know the America market, and two, while working for a company, I could figure out what my market had troubles with. All, while being paid exceptionally well. Not to mention, acclimatizing to that level of work. Higher pay attracts higher work, not unlike the video above. Where you create what's never been done, before. While I've mentioned all of this, I haven't mentioned "freedom in your work", as I managed my days and created my career, reporting to CEOs and the C-suite. Your work is a representation of what you do; how many people are stuck on the lowest step of the ladder, based on what other people say. For that matter, how many people on are the top step, balancing, fearing nowhere else to step. No solid foundation to land on. This is why you have to manage your own career, and be diligent about performing in all categories of what that career entails. Getting involved in interconnected fields, and being bold in the manner of gaining that experience. You may not know how to land that rocket booster, now, but in a few years it can be child's play to you :}
We are actively hiring control systems engineers and technicians to help us expand our launch and catch capability across multiple sites. If you have what it takes, apply! https://lnkd.in/gtpunuAQ https://lnkd.in/gqjPebzk https://lnkd.in/gsWQW_sn

Working on the Water Techs. today, Direct Hire, Great Lakes States. If anyone wants to "nerd out" a bit, here is what our client is doing- they provide THIS service, pre-treat of water (not wastewater, water after manufacturing but new water coming in, steps 2-4): Water undergoes treatment and preparation to meet the specific quality and purity requirements needed for production. Here's an overview of the water process at the start: 1. Water Source The water typically comes from one of the following sources: Municipal supply. Groundwater (e.g., wells). Surface water (e.g., rivers or lakes). Each source determines the initial level of impurities (e.g., sediments, minerals, organic matter) that must be treated. 2. Pre-Treatment Steps A. Filtration (Primary Treatment) Coarse Filtration: Removes large debris like leaves or sand using mesh screens. Sedimentation: Allows heavy particles to settle out in a tank. Multi-media Filtration: Uses layers of sand, gravel, and activated carbon to remove smaller particles and organic contaminants. B. Coagulation and Flocculation Coagulation: Chemicals (like alum or ferric chloride) are added to destabilize particles in water. Flocculation: Gentle mixing forms larger clumps (flocs), which are easier to remove. C. Disinfection Chlorination or UV treatment is used to kill bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. 3. Secondary Treatment Steps (Depending on Manufacturing Needs) A. Softening (Hardness Removal) Removes calcium and magnesium ions that cause scaling in equipment. B. Deionization (Ion Exchange) Ion exchange resins remove dissolved salts to produce deionized (DI) water for high-purity processes. C. Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane filtration removes dissolved salts, bacteria, and small organic molecules. This step is essential in industries like pharmaceuticals and semiconductors. D. Carbon Filtration Activated carbon removes chlorine, organic compounds, and odors to protect downstream processes. 4. Final Conditioning A. pH Adjustment pH is fine-tuned for specific manufacturing processes to prevent corrosion or ensure compatibility with chemicals. B. Specific Additives For cooling or boiler systems, anticorrosive agents or oxygen scavengers may be added. In specialized industries, such as electronics or food manufacturing, ultrapure water (UPW) may be required, achieved through advanced methods like electrodeionization (EDI). 5. Distribution to Manufacturing Units Once treated, the water is stored in sanitized holding tanks and distributed via pipelines to the necessary areas, such as: Cooling systems (thermal regulation). Boiler systems (steam production). Process water for product fabrication, rinsing, or mixing.
Field Service Technicians- Water- I need a bunch for early 2025- I have a heads up- Great Lakes area and Chicagoland. I am interviewing now. For consideration and more info, quickest way to reach me is to send me an e-mail, pecicjk@kellyservices.com.
